Starmer is getting hoisted by his own petard, he made a big play of ending the ' sleaze and chaos '. He's either arrogant or stupid. I think the former as the gifts and favours were being taken as he complained about those very things.

I wonder what you call people who fire 19,000 rockets indiscriminately into another country, or people who wander into a music festival and indiscriminately kill party goers, or people who throw LGBTQ+ people off tall buildings, or people who declare that their reason for being is to obliterate their neighbours on religious grounds, or people who set up laws that make women the possession of a man, or people who use the death penalty to deal with political opposition, or people who execute children, or people who have a penalty code that includes torture, blinding, amputation, stoning, flogging, or people who have a legal age for girls to marry of 13 or younger in the father consents, or people who imprison, torture and rape women for removing their hijab.
I'll make you two posters, one that says the Iranian government ignores human rights and another that says the Israeli government ignore human rights. You have a choice take the first one to a street corner in Tehran or you can take the second to a street corner in Tel Aviv.

The current focus on this story is partly be cause Starmer made a big fuss about Tory donations and spent time on stunts like going into a wallpaper shop when Johnson was redecorating number 10.
Starmer in a way has created the focus on this story. |
