Eom "can't give us 90 minutes" in much the same way as Franco apparently can't give us 90 minutes, or Ntcham couldn't give us 90 minutes in that they almost certainly can, but for some reason our subs appear largely pre-determined before the game.

There was no real need to go with MPH upfront either. Vipotnik has hardly been taxed in recent matches. In any case, it would have been better to elevate Wilson from the u21's if we needed a natural striker on the bench to cover instead of shoehorning yet another player in out of position.

It is, unfortunately, the modern management style, of which as a club we are all too enamoured. Keep the ball. Play the safe pass. Don't take risks. Makes for stultifyingly dull football in the main.

Most definitely. Honey trapping has been a standard tactic for years. The KGB were masters of it, apart from the time when they tried it on President Sukarno of Indonesia and it backfired somewhat...

Exactly. He's struggling about as much and for the same reasons that Latibeaudiere did, and being blamed for something that isn't his fault in precisely the same way.

Mobile phone use in Swansea.com

I've never got much of a signal there during breaks in play, worse during the Prem era. I'm with EE and it's usually pretty good wherever else I am.

Do still think it's more to do with local tower capacity.

Wifi powerful enough to potentially manage 20,000 extra devices? Not sure if that's possible.

One of the reasons why it's hard to get a service down there is because the local towers can barely manage on a match day. It's easier to get online when the game is ongoing than at half time.

I guess we know the answer to the question of whether or not Russy is a Premier League manager.

Hard to see him lasting much longer there.

What Is Match Fitness?
at 20:04 30 Sep 2024

There's a difference between fitness and sharpness. Eom looked like a fish out of water to begin with. Now he's getting games under his belt he's looking more up to speed.

The only way that ZV and Bianchini (and I don't really buy into the idea that they're way off the pace) will do the same is by getting games. It's faintly bonkers that Abdulai is seemingly the first alternative sub for a wide player.

Plenty of our own supporters think this is a wonderful idea if social media is to be believed.

Loons.

That's a fair point, but if you leave the salary at the current level and deny people the chance to earn extra then reliable party hacks or second raters is all you'll have.

Yep.

Choices. His choices.

A bit OTT there I think Keith. We've seen about 20 minutes in total of MPH and not seen Abdulai used properly all season. Joe has played well in other games this season. I wouldn't put any of those three in the list of our biggest problems today.

He's been here for nine months and has been given a hell of a lot of leeway in terms of how he builds his squad, yet there's no real discernible style to what we do. Flashes here and there, like at times in the first half today, but not a vast amount.

It doesn't help that in the eyes of some absolutely none of it is his fault. Some isn't, some is. If we could see that he was making the best use of everything he had available then maybe I could get on board with some of the arguments about squad quality, but it's pretty apparent to me that this is not the case.

Choices are being made to concentrate on a certain number of players to the detriment of others. In some cases (Abdulai) these choices are beginning to have a damaging effect on a players career.

One man and one man alone makes these decisions.

We had other forwards but Williams made it clear that he had no use for either of them so they both got packed off on loan. I'm afraid we can't use squad weakness as an excuse for him whilst simultaneously overlooking his role in weakening it.

No, but he absolutely has to be as droppable as the rest of the squad. His performance today was risible, yet he played the full 90 and no doubt will captain the side again in midweek.

It's not healthy.

Williams is in no way, shape or form being "forced" to play Abdulai out wide. It's a deliberate choice on a par with Martin's obsession with sticking Latibeaudiere on the wing. Given Ronald's current struggles a start for Bianchini is overdue, or at least some decent time as a sub.

Players aren't going to get match sharp if they're not playing matches. Vipotnik has taken a hell of a lot of (mostly unwarranted) stick for his sub appearances yet played well when given actual meaningful game time today.

Neon Tetras are always a decent addition to a tank. Mollies and Gourami also come in a variety of sizes and colours.

Summed up by that moment late in the first half when we must have created three or four openings out wide good enough to allow a crossing opportunity, only to eventually end up back on the halfway line.

Some things we're getting better at. There was some nice interplay going forward at times in the first half, but we seem completely unable to keep it going for a full game.
