It's weird isn't it? Genuinely curious how/ why he made the subs when he did...

Bringing Frey on with 10 minutes left at 5-2 was mind blowing , I couldn't get my head around that! If we had been still in the game then yes release the unicorn but to risk him for 10 minutes when the game was gone was ridiculous.

Leicester City v Q.P.R Match Type Thread. on 16:21 - Jan 11 by Rsole

Fees like one of the main objectives for the game was to show that Madsen needs a loan and we need another couple of players on loan ourselves.

Not a great look if that is true but it’s the only logic that can be applied in my knee jerk reaction.

Would it have been any better if we’d played different players or made subs earlier, we will never know but there were times we more than held our own in the first half and I strongly suspect we could easily have had a better outcome with some simple changes in selection.

Colback for Madsen was an obvious tweak. He’s got more experience, nous and defensive abilities. He gets stuck in and would have told everything else to do the same. With Cookie out, his leadership would have been a difference too.

(I say all of that with the proviso that I don’t really like Colback but I am aware he has some attributes that would have been useful today and much more appreciated than the alternative).

Completely agree re Colback, especially against Prem opposition, for which his colour (ginger) would have been up - hopefully in a good way!

I know it wasn't an embarrassment of a performance a la Swansea, and we actually looked very decent for 20 mins or so in the first half, but I honestly feel Marti should say sorry to the travelling fans for getting it so badly wrong today. His subs/game management were surreally off too, as has been pointed out.

As I feared, he's talked the talk about changing the Cup culture at QPR but failed to walk the walk. I like Marti in many ways, but he's lower down his learning curve than I thought.

If I'd written this, I'd probably get excommunicated! 'Abomination' is a bit much, but we shot ourselves in the foot so many times today with that selection! If the 4,500 aren't at least a little mardy, they bloody well should be.

I left when the 5th went in and I'm absolutely livid

If he starts Madsen next week then I won't be going into the ground !

Works both ways . Maybe the player he replaced needed replacing .
We always seem to forget that the bench has all the data there. We don’t, yet we (including me ) think we know best .

Felt like the subs were data driven and perhaps decided upon before kick off to avoid player fatigue.
There is no way you watch that game and think we'll take Chair off and leave the ineffective Saito on. Or, take Field off for the hopeless madsen.

The subs to make to have given us a chance were Ashby for Dunne, Saito for Smyth and Morgan for Madsen. Then Frey on with thirty to go.

We went out with a whimper.

Back on the anti MC bandwagon I see. Boooooooring.

O god, another black-and-white (rather than, say, blue and white) 'thinker'! Glad I don't live in your mental world where one can't both affirm and critique at the same time, as I have and do when the team and manager deserve it. So, for you, you're either 'for' the manager or 'against' him', as if this were a cult rather than a message board with people changing their minds all the time,and/or passionately arguing positions while realising they're only 'perspectives' in the end. Never mind!

By 'fanbase', I mean that (I'd suggest more intelligent and informed) portion of the fanbase who post on here - rather obviously, I'd have thought! Happy to make that clear. As for my 'point', I presumed the poll, and my post, spoke for themselves, so not sure what your issue is here.

So a very tiny percentage of the fan base agree with you. As long as it give you a tingle in your special place that 0.000001 percent of the fan base agrees with you and therefore the world according to stainrod can flourish.
Regarding your other post where you go on about club stream and multiple angles blah blah blah and then say something along the lines of, what makes others think they know more about the world than you. You know the one. I know you will correct me with the exact sentence. The question is though and the irony of your sentiment. What makes you think you know more than others?

I do think we should be looking to move Madsen out on loan for the remainder of the season.

I just think that this league is way too quick and physical . Clive already told us that many other scouts and clubs left him alone for this very reason.

He ours for the foreseeable future so maybe a loan to Scotland or something might help . Lesser quality but just as physical?
Not sure, but he is a five a side footballer and can’t cope with our football as it stands .

The fact we have paid more money for him than we have for anybody else for yonks , means questions should be asked at the ‘fans forum’ next week .

Oh I forget , the questions are controlled and vetted beforehand . Silly me

Ashby, Saito and Madsen are not good enough. Not an ounce of fight between them. Bringing Dunne, Smyth and Morgan on at half time may have given us a chance.

Absolutely this.

Same old same old. 2nd half was 2 fingers up to us the game, imo. As usual, total disappointment in 3rd round.
There is no valid reason why we shouldn't have started with Dunne/Nardi today.

Mate it's just common sense , you don't bring a striker on especially your leading striker on when you are 5-2 down with the risk of him getting injured, no data needed!

Fair assessment I think .
Expected a sub or 2 at half time myself and we didn’t pounce on the momentum turning our way with Kolli’s goal . 5 mins later it’s too late

If Marti really wanted to have a proper go today then he would have made substitutions a lot earlier.

First substitution was not until the 70th minute, all like for like, all about player game time management and likely pre planned with the Performance Department.

Fair point . Don’t fully agree as there could be loads of reasons why he wanted to put a player on and I only say that through experience, but I understand your point and reasons .

I like Saito, but he did jackshit today, and gave Ashby little protection as well. I don't know what shape Smyth was in, but he was on the bench, so he must have been able to do a half, surely. Absolutely cr*p game (mis)management today, imo, and now confidence will have taken a massive hit to boot.

If I were a bear, I'd need a lorryload of Anadin for my sore head!

I fcking hate the way we toss off the FA Cup year after year. Leicester on five successive defeats, fourteen goals conceded must have been really low on confidence. Had we started with the team that started against Luton, even just for the first half, I'm sure they were there for the taking.

Instead we're on the wrong end of an embarrassing 6-2 hammering which is bound to affect morale a bit. I could understand it if we were in the bottom three, but fck me for the life of me I can't understand resting shit loads of players and then bringing the cavalry on after an hour when you're losing, what's the point of that?

Marti actually made 6 changes from the Luton game, including the keeper, both central defenders, in midfield, and at centre forward, of which perhaps one (for me) was justified. Chair aside, Nardi, Dunne, Morgan and Frey are currently our best players. I call that managerially irresponsible and the result predictable (and interestingly 50% of the fanbase on my poll tonight currently agree).

Actually, no offense but I don't think this is true. You have a selection for depressed/mad, and then 5 selections for people to choose from who dont care much. Players needed rest, ambivalent, etc., are all the same things basically. So I read the current results as 61% don't really care that much (for a few reasons) and 39% are depressed/mad.

You say you are just giving an opinion but when others do the same, your writing comes across as rude, dismissive and sarcastic. Many on here have or have had issue with the way you present yourself and the tone of your replies and posts. I know you don't care but when you are spoken to the way you speak to others, you play the misunderstood victim. What you can't seem to grasp is you are the very thing you moan about.
