I know it sounds extreme but we should bring back the riot act. Can ping every phone in the area in multiple languages telling them they’ve got an hour to disperse and go home before the police/army come in authorised to use high amounts of force on anyone still rioting,

As has been said the Riot Act still exists, but once a riot has been declared it used to mean the relevant Police Authority were responsible for damages incurred during the riot. The inttifucyion of PCC’s may have necessitated a change in legislation, but calling a riot is a big step. Violent Disorder probably the preferred Charge these days.

Major disorder on one of our biggest cities yet yours is the only comment
News coverage sparse
Why is that ?
Sinister
Yvette will sort it,won’t she

Because of the fear of copy cat incidents occurring all over the uk. It happened a few years ago when it all kicked off in London, the media played things down or didn’t report incidents (I suspect as a result of a government request) as it could have exacerbated matters.

The authorities should give them a warning to leave the area telling them the fire service will turn the hoses on them with some kind of dye/ colouring in the water, anyone who has the dye on them is guilty of an offence and off to prison. That’s the way it should be, but that’s in my idealistic world.

People should look a little further outside but close enough to the UK to see that unhappiness comes in all shades of colour. The recent rioting in Coolock in the Irish Republic may open the eyes of a few ,one of many such recent incidents.

Fire fighters would be in all sorts of trouble if they turned the hoses on these rats .
In fact, they’re pretty much sitting ducks
They wear a uniform and that’s enough to signal authority Enough to be a target
They put up with amazing abuse and so do paramedics ,people who save lives

Fireboy is hardly a chum of mine but the job he does is one most would find impossible to do.
We expect these people to save lives yet allow them to be disrespected and even ridiculed.
That is until a Rats house is up in flames, then they want all the help offered .
Funny that

How do you know they aren’t second or third generation migrants who are already U.K. citizens and nothing to do with refugees? They may be refugees, they may not, we wont know until we see their names and details in the paper. I’m pretty sure the Townhill rabble who kicked off weren’t eligible for the “next boat home”.
If they are refugees, then it should be some serious porridge then deportation, if they aren’t and they are British citizens then just the serious porridge.

And that's the problem we will have it's not the first or second generation who fail to integrate but the 3rd generation who seem more insular and unhappy with life in the UK .

Is there a specific offence for rioting? I have absolutely no idea. I would imagine though that the bulk of the sentence is for criminal damage, arson and assaults on police officers. Maybe looting in some cases.

https://www.cps.gov.uk/legal-guidance/public-order-offences-incorporating-chargi

Riot is a public order offence as set out in section 1 of the 1986 Act. Depending on the circumstances offenders may be charged with other offences, such as violent disorder and affray.

To be fair the new justice minister hasn’t really got much choice as they’ve inherited a mess and have to pick up the pieces, failure to do do would have seen the system collapse. Braverman was recently critical of the Conservative Party for not building enough capacity and she was Home Secretary on 2 occasions! The plan the new justice minister implemented was developed by the last justice minister.

Labour have never been tough on criminals Ever.
That said, neither have the Tories
Our country has been let down by both
It’s either criminals or us
We seem to have given up
Letting these rats loose will cause more pain.
The perfect cycle

The future for the U.K imo looks extremely bleak! And I guess the majority on here think that way also.

A country infiltrated by epidemic numbers of foreign organised crime gangs, a segragated/sectarian country with some area's that makes Crossmaglen, Falls Road and Shankill Road look normal by comparrison.

No go zone's/area's force-multiplying at a staggering rate!!!! Area's that are too unsafe for women to walk alone even in broad daylight!!!

A country being overpopulated at an insane rate with public services in a catastrophic state, and with governments, an education system, police force, civil service and judiciary so infiltrated by WOKE, that law and order, decency, morals and a functional safe and secure society no longer matters.

To think our fore-fathers jumped out of Dakota's, waded through blood soaked sea, got torpedoed on merchant/Royal Navy missions, got shot down into cold Atlantic seas etc, only for the country to end up in the sh1t state it is now.

Yes but why is what we should be asking ourselves
For me,we had a chance to radically alter the law and order question after the 80s riots.
What did we do? Blame police and introduce the PACE ,which overnight made solicitors big money .
Then we create CPS ,so pitifully unfit for purpose then as it is now

We had the chance to hammer scum and bottled it

This is the result

It’s a been a powdered waiting to explode since lockdown. There was a reaction from society who appear to have no respect for rule or democracy. No doubt we’ll learn more from the Leeds riots but I’m sure in certain parts of the media it’ll be portrayed as a reaction to poverty, a lack of understanding of minorities etc etc.

I’m sure the police would have acted differently if it was white blokes at football.

The looney left are dictating how the country is managed.

I’d water cannon all the scruffy worthless scum.
