Loved T Rex, think this lasted one week at top of the charts before Don McClean’s Vincent took its place. Sweet and Slade were the bands of the time 😎

My early records (early 70s) were all bought from the record shop on the Uxbridge Rd just the Loftus Rd side of the Shepherds Bush (Market) tube station. Can anyone remember what it was, “Our Price”?

Went into my local record shop in College Park in 1965 when I was 11 to buy Dimples by the Spencer Davis Group. It was sold out and the owner persuaded me to buy the original by John lee Hooker. I went home feeling like a mug until I played it.

I know the one you mean, I think. I seem to remember it being opened about 1968 by Tony Blackburn.

I was 9, OK? Nine years old. I have never admitted this in public before and I never will again. I'm sorry.
On holiday one year, my brother and I were loitering in a shop when a shop assistant came over to ask if he could help us. I replied: "Oh, we don't want to buy anything, we're just listening to that song on your radio".
It was "Superwomble" by, erm, The Wombles.
See, even as a 10 year old, I was hard as nails and cool as funk
"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

I remember the 'Archie' style cartoon to this.
Somebody bought it for me. They clearly didn't know me.
Green Manalishi -(the original) Fleetwood Mac
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime." (Mark Twain)

Queen 2, Slade - Old new borrowed and blue Tangerine dream - Ricochet. Folks bought first proper stereo summer 76. Took my savings and walked to the local record shop the very next day. Before that had only c tapes and i didnt count them anything but waste of time, money and space. Still have those three lp s. Great records. Year later came punk in force and my vinyl collection exploded...

Age 4 or 5. My mum used to scour the stalls at Shepherds Bush Market for Beatles records, got bored and kept on about letting me buy something. Think I grabbed this as it had my birth month in it. Probably first time I’ve heard it since about then.

I wish I could say Adam and the Ants 'Stand and Deliver' 7" but it was Sheena Easton 'For Your Eyes Only"! 'Stand and Deliver' was the third one I bought after the 82' World Cup song!
Album - Adam and the Ants - 'Kings Of The Wild Frontier'
Disco - you are so right, but Kings is still a great album that I still listen to. Loved them up until 'Prince Charming' then discovered punk, hip hop and Led Zep. Men in make up don't make good music.
