Saints Confirm Charlie Austin Transfer Completed
Thursday, 8th Aug 2019 15:56

Saints have officially confirmed that Charlie Austin has joined West Bromwich Albion on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £4.5 -5 million

Some Saints fans have expressed delight that Charlie Austin was leaving the club, but they are very short sighted, whatever your feelings towards him as person he always gave his all in a Saints shirt and although injury blighted his time here, that was not his fault and he scored some vital goals.

He played 34 plus 37 as sub games in the Premier League and scored 16 goals, a decent enough figure given his injury problems and some of those goals were vital, not least the winner at Manchester United on his debut and his final goal for the club against Arsenal back in December that gave Saints all three points.

So to put glib comments on social media about good riddance is unfair to the player who scored 20 goals in 81 appearances in all competitions.

Good luck Charlie Austin at West Brom.

Well, got to thank you for some of the important goals that you have scored for us, but have to say that your attitude stinks - how can you insist that you have got to be starting every week when everyone can see that " your legs look like are made of lead ,,,,, you can not run - let alone sprint " and you seem to disrupt other players - and for those reasons we are glad to see the back of you! you're able to concentrate on your horseracing now!!

Fair enough Nick, I'll admit to being short sighted but my glasses help out with that most of the time. My less than charitable opinion of Austin stems from watching a guy on £60k or £80k a week blowing like an unfit local league footballer and puffing like a steam engine after "sprinting" fifty metres. Nonetheless, good luck at WBA Charlie.
