I'd agree with this. I think Tanser has been our best defender so far. He is the only un-droppable defender at the moment for me. If we need more height in the middle, I'd pick him over TK at LB every time. Aside from his obvious defensive ability, Tanser's distribution and willingness to bring the ball out of the defence is brilliant to see. But that's not me saying TK has done anything wrong either.
Just got back from this game. Chelsea were on another level. Nailed on favourites for the title after that for me.
If there is anybody reading this who is involved in a fantasy league/dream team competition who hasn't got fabregas, I would urge them to get him. It was a privilege watching him 'live' tonight.
I really hope Tanser starts on sat. He's been solid defensively, and very composed on the ball during pre season, he's looked a class act in the short spell I've seen of him. For me, he is our best option in this current squad to fill the gap left by Jack O'Connell from last season. But that said, it's a big ask.
Awesome battle. Groves well on top through 'boxing' for first 6 rounds, then got dragged into a brawl and lost his concentration. Not many will beat frotch by street fighting. I've always liked Froch but his interview afterwards was ridiculous. He even seemed to be grateful for a stoppage, rather than going on and probably/having a chance to win outright.... agree with it all being a money maker without doubt. Shame really, that could have been one of the best all British fights, ever, if it had gone a bit further and not spoilt by the stoppage.
The key bit being: Lillis is a good keeper (I would add - at this level).
If we start throwing stones at Lillis, then I would suggest we are not very good supporters, as he has done very little wrong. He is 1/11th of what is a very good team performance so far this season.... End of.
So only one goal was 'his fault' then? Hardly awful.
Today is a blip, and I think it's massively unfair to start pinpointing players for mistakes or errors given the unbelieve start we have had to the season. And Josh has been a crucial part of the defensive unit that has helped achieve that. We will have defeats this season, an it would be far more productive to just accept that and move on to the next game.
I'd stick with Jamie Allen tonight. I see his natural position being an attacking midfield. I see Hery being more of a box-to-box midfielder, but at home, against an opposition who are likely to sit back, i'd say we could make more use of Jamie Allen tonight.
Having said the all the above, using my thinking would mean Hery's opportunities may be quite limited, but maybe away from Home where we look to be a bit more solid may be more suited to Hery rather than Allen in the attacking role?
It has been said hundreds of times already, but Sir Keith must be like a kid in a sweet shop before every game at the moment, the choices are endless!
