https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ce8y28ny1n0o This is a significant development, do the findings of the medical committee, which comprises of eminent subject matter experts from around the world mean that Letby is not guilty and a subject of a major miscarriage of justice? I really feel for the parents/ families and can’t imagine what they must be going through. |

“Players that needed 18 months were of no use to him” - the average tenure of a championship manager isn’t that long these days so it’s easy to see why managers want the finished product. There are currently only 4 managers in the Championship who’ve been with the club for longer than 18 months. Cooper was given a brief and that was promotion while the club still had parachute payments coming in, unfortunately he wasn’t able to deliver and left. Maybe he feels he was left down by the powers that were in charge at the time. You keep going on about this, but unless you’re on the inside you don’t know what happened. Maybe Cooper saw enough in training to make his mind up. If Brighton had thought he was a £20m plus player why did they sell him so cheaply? [Post edited 4 Feb 22:28]

I’m not disputing that, I’m just commenting on what happened under Cameron and May. They also reduced the police establishment by 20,000 which is a hell of a lot. |

I’ve got no time for the guy, but on this and some of the other issues I have a little bit of sympathy. The way I see it is that there’s not enough cash to go round to keep everyone happy and lots of people aren’t getting what they want. Yesterday Drakers was criticised for not allocating enough money to address poverty, today it’s women’s health, the week before that it was local government. The bottom line is the pie is only so big and how it’s sliced is never going to keep everyone happy. Lots of charities ( who by and large do a good job) commission research, publish reports etc etc and they all have their own agenda which is to promote their own cause and generate more revenue. Personally, I’d fund the women’s health by axing the increase in politicians in Cardiff Bay, but the general point about people complaining still stands. |

I think you can attribute the blame for most of the above to the Conservative governments of Cameron and May. The College of Policing which is directed by the Home Office issued a raft of new guidance/directions called it what you will to Chief Constables about what should and what shouldn’t be done when dealing with various offences. A guy I know was a senior cop and had been on the College of Policing’s accelerated promotion scheme which, his view was shoplifting wasn’t something the police should deal with and that victims should deal with it through the civil courts because the police didn’t have the resources and it wasnt high enough priority - I get the resourcing issue but shoplifting is a huge problem and a lot of it is carried out by organised criminals and drug users who steal to fund their habit. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-42329124 |
| Forum Reply | How many points will we need to stay up? at 10:18 4 Feb 2025
The lowest number of points required to avoid relegation was 38 in 21/22, but that season 2 teams received points deductions so if we ignore that it would have been 48 points. The highest number of points to avoid relegation was 53 in 16/17. The average number of points required is around 44. |

Trump might just be playing out a huge bluff to get what he wants, threaten tariffs and see the weaker countries capitulate and give in. He’s already played a blinder with Columbia who were forced to back down pretty sharpish. Where he may come unstuck is when he “targets” the EU or potentially China who have the strength or collective economic strength to be able to retaliate. If he presses on with tariffs against Canada fuel prices in the US will be affected because a lot of the American refineries are configured to refine the heavier Canadian fuel. |
| Forum Reply | Wales' 2025 Six Nations squad ... at 23:06 31 Jan 2025
I believe the Welsh players gave their all, but they just aren’t good enough. We were drubbed by a much better team. We aren’t big enough to play the biff, biff game and we aren’t creative enough to stretch teams. It’s a reflection on our regional and club game. It’s my understanding member clubs of the WRU have to order and pay for their international ticket allocation in advance, so this seasons tickets will probably have been moved on, but next year the WRU May struggle to sell tickets especially at north of £100 each. I thought the Ref was poor, there were blatant forward passes he missed including the 3rd try, and potential high tackles he didn’t give. The Ntamack incident was a red every day of the week and imho he should have red carded him from the off, it was blatant. |
| Forum Reply | Darling to leave also? at 19:07 28 Jan 2025
I wouldn’t be so sure. If his agent is telling him he can pick up £1m as a free agent in June or a couple of hundred thousand as a signing on fee now, that’s a huge difference and a massive incentive to sit tight. If he feels “disrespected” because he didn’t get an offer on a contract earlier then he just might say @@@@ you and sit tight. If he does the latter, he’s unlikely to pick up injuries either. |
| Forum Reply | Could selling Grimes and losing his wages allow a deal for Darling? at 18:29 27 Jan 2025
If Grimes does go, I think that’ll have a really negative impact on the rest of the squad and I can’t see Darling staying. If Williams has lost the dressing room like some are claiming, then players at other clubs will be very weary about signing and we may find it’s a case of Grimes out and no one in. |

I have professional knowledge of the criminal justice system. The article makes reference to the CPS view of terrorism, it’s actually the law of the land’s definition. The actions and interventions she outlined should have taken place outside the Prevent scheme because he didn’t “tick the boxes” for Prevent, the government recognise that and are making changes. The concerning things is that there could be others who have “ no terrorist ideology” but are ticking time bombs who could cause a lot a problems. [Post edited 26 Jan 18:25]

No. It’s a good job some of the teams in the drop zone are so poor, otherwise there’d be some real gnashing of teeth. [Post edited 26 Jan 16:40]

Me too, but they are in a lot of trouble. Going back to the original subject, Huw Jenkins did well at Swansea for a period, but he subsequently lost his way and made some appalling decisions in the transfer market which cost the Swans a lot of money. |

Prevent has a narrow remit which is terrorism, if Rudakabana’s behaviour wasn’t considered to be terrorism then it’s understandable that he wouldn’t be progressed through Prevent and he wouldn’t be eligible for “Channel” as that’s a de radicalisation programme for individuals on the pathway to extremist radicalisation. Where serious questions need to be asked is after the referral to the safeguarding and other agencies, what did they do to manage this individual because they’ve clearly come up short. A compressive and far ranging enquiry is definitely required. |

Something doesn’t look right. I feel for the fans who spent their hard earned travelling up to East Anglia, departed Swansea 4.30am, £53 for the supporters bus, £26 for the ticket, plus spends and a 5-1 spanking to cap it all. Not good. |
| Forum Reply | The Southport attack and Starmer at 22:45 25 Jan 2025
In the eyes of the law is reference to the judge and to the CPS who would have made the decision about which offences to Charge after reviewing the file. In this case it’s clear Rudakubana’s actions fall within Section 2, however there is no evidence that the conduct was designed to influence government or an international governmental organisation or to intimidate the public or a section of the public AND that the use or threat is made for the purpose of advancing a political, religious [F2, racial] or ideological cause. If the police had found evidence, I’m sure it would have been made public. The 3 referrals to Prevent didn’t identify any links with terrorism which is why they didn’t do anything with him apart from refer him on. There definitely needs to be an enquiry regarding the way this kid was dealt with because to most of us there’d be alarm bells ringing. |

A few weeks ago several posters commented that the club could get pulled in to a relegation battle, to be honest I didn’t think that would be the case, but 1 win in 6 v Luton who are in the drop zone and 4 points from 18 and it’s now looking very uncomfortable. The Swans form is the third worst in the league and the next 2 games sees them playing inform teams. Not good. |
