In a plastic pot, with a choice of lager or leave it.

RIP Norman Bodell
at 14:47 15 Dec 2024

Sorry to hear that. He was in the team that played in the League Cup Final v Norwich. His mother-in-law used to live next door to me and he visited occasionally. He was manager at Barrow at one time, but probably most of his time was spent at Birmingham and West Brom.

RIP Norman.

Gateshead v Farsley

Match abandoned after a Farsley player collapsed on the pitch due to a medical episode and is treated for some considerable time. Now taken by ambulance to hospital. Best wishes to him and all those affected as a result.

I would imagine every young manager in the lower reaches of the pyramid would be hungry to progress to a higher level, for both professional and personal reasons.

Jim McNulty would be daft not to at least listen to what was being offered, rather than turn them down point blank.

I don't for a minute think he's unhappy here, I think he is committed to the job in hand, but also naturally curious as to what else is out there.

We can all look at a garage forecourt or an estate agent window, but it doesn't mean we want to buy a car or move house.

Wealdstone here we come. Intact.

Anyone expecting loyalty in modern day football, is either naive in the extreme, or hopelessly away with the fairies.

Jim will surely do what is best for his own personal situation, and rightly so, because that is where his loyalty lies. If he is selected by Burton and he goes, he does so with my blessing. He's been incredibly dedicated to the job he has done here, on the field and as a manager in the dugout.

Any consolation might be that in our current situation, we have a better chance of recruiting a replacement with pedigree than we did when Jim took over.

As ever, the club will always be the primary concern. It's more important than anything else.

Anyone know why he has left the club? Job elsewhere? Dissatisfaction?

Have to say I thought he was doing a pretty good job with the younger players.

It's a competitive domestic cup fixture. Of course his goal counts as surely as if it was the FA Cup. 151 and counting.....

Was the payout made from club funds or was it made by the person who was responsible for the 'indiscretion' from his personal finances? If the former, did it appear in the annual accounts?

NFR - Smiths of Castleton
at 14:16 25 Oct 2024

There was Schofields bakery on Spotland Road, (next to Lucky's chippy) which closed some years ago and Waltons Bakery in the same row, where we used to buy our bread/pies when I was a nipper,

Lower down Spotland Road near Clarkes Lane was Firths bakers. Long gone but a great shop for bread/pies etc...... The loss of Smith's is a sad landmark for the village of Castleton and indeed the Borough as a whole. The family have been well known for their high quality produce from their various shops, and there will be no substitute for them or their goods.

What was pleasing to hear was the amount of work going on quietly behind the scenes for the future benefit of the club. Plans and proposals for a variety of projects are under way, which, when nearer to fruition will be disclosed as and when they are ready to go.

Contacts being made with companies far and wide, including abroad with a view to promoting the club in new areas to new markets.

There is clearly much to look forward to.
