Agree that Jim is far too comfortable in his job - he was the cheap option, we couldn't afford to give him an assistant and it shows. The Board has nobody with football experience, there is no director of football to help them or to guide the manager. So Jim has a philosophy and the Board follow him blindly. He is a nice guy, way too friendly with the players, shows no passion on the touchline, and hasn't a clue really. Not sure about the pitch. We have had worse - at least it didn't bobble everywhere. The area near the police box is still a worry - but the players didn't see it as a problem as they took a short corner there. Madness really, of course it went nowhere. A couple of weeks ago somebody who rarely comes to games fell asleep. He was that bored and hasn't been since. Yesterday an older guy was so angry with how boring it was he has decided that is it for the rest of the season. A young couple sat alongside us. They were first time visitors and were shocked how bad it was - won't be coming back was their verdict. Project 5000 hasn't got a cat in hells chance in my lifetime. |

It suggests light rain tomorrow after some light snow tonight. I would hope the club has the covers on until around 12 noon tomorrow. |

The payback period on this type of investment is 7-10 years. Much lower than it used to be. Good to hear that the club is buying the battery storage capacity so they retain power generated to be used when needed which is better value than selling surplus back to the grid. A really good example of the Ogdens putting money in where they can make an immediate impact on sustainability that the club would never have been able to justify. |

The club has announced that the entire mainstand will have solar panels installed before summer to allow the club to reduce its carbon footprint and save 30% on utility costs - something that we know is a big cost for the club. And using a local firm too. Well done Suggests we don't have any plans to rebuild the mainstand or move grounds in the foreseeable future. https://rochdaleafc.co.uk/solar-project-to-get-underway-at-coa/ |

Or an Ollie Rathbone terrior. I think most of us see the same thing with midfield. Gilmore is a strong lad with lots of experience. But against Yeovil in the first half he continually lost the ball, and the same for the whole game against Oldham. East can't do everything. And neither seem willing to take a shot when on the edge of the box. As for Jim, I don't listen to his interviews anymore. I find it too baffling. I don't mind us being beaten by a better side, so long as we have done our best and been entertained for at least some of the game. There is so much potential ..... we only see it every third game. Its a good job we don't need to attract new fans. |
![](/images/avatars/0.gif) | Forum Reply | Head Steward type fella... at 11:50 5 Feb 2025
The cost of policing the game last night will have been enormous. I counted 40 police in the ground - all of which I think we pay for. There were a large number of police outside the ground too. Oldham are the only team where this is needed. They also damaged the netting at the Sandy end of Willbuts when they scored. Sadly, once again, we had injuries in the mainstand with fallers on the stairs at the end of the game. Again, when the fans around were shouting for the stewards to help, they refused to get involved - fellow fans did manage to lift the guy. This has happened too often now. Hope the guys are recovering from what was a hell of a bang to the head for one of them. Given the age of some of the fans in the mainstand, and the number of falls we see each season, isn't it time to put some handrails in? |

You missed the best 5 minutes. It was a cracking pace for first 7 or 8 minutes. After that we couldn't get through a very organised and physical side. Will be interesting to see what Jim was asking with the over long long ball. Onto Saturday and hope we can pick up the pace against a side that leaks like a sieve |

There isn't one planned. The ref is a teacher so won't be at the ground until 6ish in any case |

I heard they are doing a roaring trade in tents for the homeless. |

I don't know why, but the block beside the police control box is never available to buy tickets. Of course it might be used for players tickets, hospitality, etc. But you can't buy a ticket in that block normally |

Of course it has to be put into perspective given the poor reputation of the visitors... there are blocks around the ground not for sale. The end blocks of the mainstand and the scoreboard end of Pearl Street aren't on sale. They'll block off part of the Wilbutts too. |

There about 400 seats still available - but they'll go fairly quickly I would think. Lets hope we can sell out and have a decent atmosphere. |

It could be worse - I honestly expected it to be cancelled so the club could hide in the corner until the pitch is playable. As for exiles, I am no longer bothered. Its too hard. I am certainly not travelling for it having wasted over 1000 miles of travel, fuel and hotel costs travelling to Spotland already this season for no reason. At least they have been shamed into doing something to placate Boston fans this time. |
![](/images/avatars/0.gif) | Forum Reply | Boston Match Thread at 22:58 28 Jan 2025
I just hope we have had the gumption to talk to Accrington or whoever to ground share until we can get the pitch fixed. Next week we play two games at home - fans that travel need to have some certainty or do we expect them to give up for the rest of the season? |

I am baffled though - the ref for both Saturday and last Tuesday could see what we all saw and thought it was acceptable. You could see the ball wasn't bouncing or moving across the turf with any speed in that corner. Today the ref said it wasn't playable but the groundstaff thought it was. If Boston were already on site, were they consulted and agreed with the ref's decision? |

Its bad enough for our fans that live away from Spotland. But Boston Utd fans had sold c200 tickets again and booked coaches. It is shocking. |

The clubs own website was advertising the hospitality package this morning for the Boston game. It is veg soup followed by a Christmas carvery. I'll bet its not. |
