I would presume that the ticket office would quite happily take your cash in exchange for a ticket before the game, but you’ve got to consider it from their view as well - they won’t want to advertise that as they don’t want to get swamped with massive queues for ticket sales, especially whilst “persuading” the masses that the new technology is the primary way to do things. If they start saying publicly that you can still pay cash at the office on the day how many fans do you think will not bother pre-purchasing because it’s a hassle or unfamiliar?

Theoretically it could have been an innocent update to the document, for example if it had references to him or GR being on the board of directors then he could have changing these details to make it correct. He was still an employee who had probably worked the most on this document in his role as CEO so I wouldn’t deem that to be an issue.

As I said though…. theoretically

It would appear to be Lomax

Just searched “ edward courtnell denise wedding” and ancestry. com showed up as the top google result as one Edward Courtnell having married a Denise, and in the London area. This was a Denise V. Lomax

I don’t subscribe to that website so I can’t see more details than that…

I had this on Saturday. No problem at all as there was a steward outside the gate with a handheld device to scan the ticket to confirm validity and let you through

Probably just convenience. Played at Walsall on the Tuesday night in blue so using the away kit on Sat gave the kitman less of a rush to get it cleaned reorganised and sorted, and the get it sorted again once more for this Tuesday.

At What Point.....
at 00:05 24 Feb 2018

Believe it or not businesses have a duty of care (both morally and legally) to their staff. Have you thought about those who work in the ticket office. They are entitled to a day off, and down time is something they’ve not had for the past couple of weeks. One thing about this club is it is actually run by people. That’s why it isn’t always perfect. It’s not a well oiled corporate machine, but that’s what is good about it.

Like I said those who work in the offices have done an amazing job and I’d hate to think about how much they’ve done. The lead up to the Millwall game and that led straight into a short turn around for the Spurs game where they were open all week. Last week was also full and stressful as the game approached and with it being a Sunday they didn’t even have the luxury of that day off. Then it’s been another busy week. I think they deserve and need a rest.

It’s not a case of can’t be arsed. It’s a case of they can’t do everything.

Hello Again
at 15:15 23 Feb 2018

Thank you. I had seen somewhere about all your games and it seems silly. That said, I think your situation is more something needs than be looked at by the FA as it seems to happen every season. There’s always at least one club which makes it through qualifying and into the first couple of the FA Cup and follows that up with a decent run in the FA Vase or Trophy (depending on their level), and you don’t even need to get very far for the games to start mounting. Add to that the league cups that exist and even the local county cups which non-league sides take more seriously as first team games unlike league teams like Dale who will play youth and fringe players in both the Lancashire and Manchester FAs’s Senior Cups. These clubs always then seem to be penalised for their successes as they invariably end up with fixture chaos at this stage of the season. Add to that the inclement weather which can cause havoc in the lower leagues, and even having an artificial pitch still leaves you at the mercy of away games being postponed, or indeed games being called off due to opponents still being involved in one of the numerous cups which take primacy over league games.

Then add all this into a season which is two weeks shorter than that in the Football League. Basically it is madness, clearly defined as it happens to at least one club year after year.

Anyway, good luck!

If Dale....
at 10:54 23 Feb 2018

No I don’t, and it’s not just the financial side of things after his new contract to consider

The performances in general haven’t been that poor (although there have been some shockers), and we’ve chucked away about 30pts already this season from winning positions. Our issue has been generally consistent defensive mistakes and a touch less impetus going forward in attack.

We’ve over achieved recently and so there was likely to be a year where it dropped off. Losing three of our best midfielders in the summer/August didn’t help plus Keane being out all season has dented the defensive impact - our leaky defence was shored up last season as soon as he arrived. Even Davies being out for most of the season has stunted our chances.

The team is generally young and so will make game costing mistakes. But their long term reward is experience and investment in them, and arguably in some ways would end up better for the experience of relegation (although hopefully not) and will either help them kick on or will show them not to be of a suitable mentality. And when all is said and done if Dale were to go down then there probably isn’t a better manager we could have to lead us in L2. Add to that it probably allows more opportunity for even more of our younger players to get game time and develop further.

On the other side, I think Hill has been a bit short in the transfers this season. I’d put his dealings usually at about 50% whether they are a success or failure (and normally it’s one extreme or the other). This season has been well off that - most of the incomming players have entered up being sub-par, with a few average. So he’s not helped himself to succeed in this regard and whilst respecting his opinions and not knowing what players are available on his budget and compatibility with the squad his transfers at times have looked to focus on the wrong positions, especially in the summer.

I don’t think you can sack him for one bad season when he’s brought the club about 7 exceptional ones. If it became two, then maybe it becomes different. But he’s earned his season of underperformance. And that’s if you can call it underperformance when our budget is probably still in the lower half of League 2.

Ticket details: Spurs (a)
at 22:49 21 Feb 2018

My guess is it maybe a software compatibility thing. Home tickets are linked to specific seats (or spaces in the sandy) which can be self selected and cross referenced and sold/removed from sale, even if there is no obligation to sit in that seat at the game.

Away tickets need cross referencing when sold and are generally sold in order on the reems supplied so there are no specific selections possible which maybe the system can’t handle plus each away game would need a new ground model to track seats sold/available which is probably a bit of faff.

Another way to look at it is £45 for ticket and travel.

If it had been £25 ticket and £20 travel there’d have been less complaints yet the same overall cost. Yes the club could have subsidised the travel, but perhaps they are looking to be investing the cup money elsewhere, like keeping season tickets around £200 for next season which isn’t really financially viable.

I’ll play a bit of Devils advocate here.

Say the basic hire of the coach is £1100. However the company may need to draft in other companies on a freelance with potential demand so for them to make so they add on 10% for their admin in organising this. So make it £1200 per coach. Then there is other add ons. Potentially their coaches don’t meet the Emission Zone criteria which adds on potentially £200 per coach. The parking at the stadium for a coach (which Judd may have not been quoted for can also reach £150+ (just checked and private coaches can use a nearby Wembley Park car park for £90))

So with a bit of give and take on the add ons we will call it a total of £1500 per coach. Obviously you wouldn’t want a break even point being made on the last seat sold, and there would be club admin factors as well. So say 45 seats is reasonable to account for that. That works out at £33.33 per person (not accounting for the extra VAT burden to be paid on anything charged over the costs which can be claimed back - with these figures a full coach would mean the club profits about £5.60 per person after VAT if the coach is fully booked.

I also presume Judd’s quote includes VAT as well as a lot of businesses in this sector which generally deal mainly with other business rather than the public quote plus VAT which is something to be careful of

Tip Summat’other

If you are travelling via Manchester and getting up north early the National Football Museum is worth a look around. It’s open from 10am, free to look around (donations welcome) and is a two minute walk from Victoria Station (the Manchester one obviously).

And if you do go via Manchester don’t panic when you see what appears to be a city which looks like 90% of the people are missing and you can generally walk in a straight line without constantly navigating around 50 people heading towards you.

Spurs - Sold out

Lies, damn lies and statistics. My guess is that they are now counted in different ways now. The extra 9 spots in the Pearl Street could be disabled places as in the old figures they were listed separately, and 9 is probably about the right number you could fit in the designated area.

But I know you meant it halfheartedly....

Manchester to Rochdale trains on Sunday
at 23:02 12 Feb 2018

The other option is get a tram to bury interchange as it’s quicker than going to Rochdale, then from there get the bus (there are a couple that stop outside the ground). Or get a taxi from bury. There’s probably less traffic going to be heading to the stadium from that direction. Overall it will probably take about the same length of time as tram to Rochdale then taxi/bus from there.

Spurs - Sold out
at 13:33 12 Feb 2018

Not entirely feasible financially. You’d have to split the stand nearly in half due to the facilities/turnstiles access etc. Then you’d lose almost a block of say 400-500 seats in segregation. Say £20 average and 400 seats lost. That’s £8k. Plus it would need extra stewarding. Then the question is would we have sold another 1500 tickets. Probably, but it would be a gamble at the start. I expect 95% of core Dale fans have their ticket so you’re hoping on the supporters of other local teams/bandwagoners to make up the numbers with no guarantee.

It’s a lot easier overall to give the whole stand to Spurs with no doubt of selling out and makes the management on match day a lot smoother too.

Online sales - NOW SUSPENDED - BUY FROM CLUB OR ON PHONE ONLY
at 12:13 12 Feb 2018

It’s often preferable to suspend sales in one way or another when close to selling out. And by removing online it gives the club more control where people sit (can fill gaps with individuals rather than letting them break up groups of pick one in two empty seats next to each other. It’s not an uncommon way for ticket sales to work in any sport/event.

Also it means that there is less danger of those in a physical queue in the cold will get turned away as the last tickets go.
