The ONE key moment of the season for you. Mine was Mackie's miss at 0-1 against Swans. We never recovered from that defeat

Buying Remy and Samba instead of getting players who could help us get straight back up. I felt we were down after winning only one game in December.

Swansea on the opening day was an obvious one, such a rude awakening, but West Ham at home sticks out. It was the first really winnable game after Swansea and we had done ok v Chelsea, Spurs (unlucky loss) and Man City (competed well). The utterly pathetic performance that night was when it became painfully obvious that Hughes had no idea and needed to go.

There was quite a bit of talk in the Springbok afterwards that Hughes would go that night to be replaced by Redknapp. If only it had happened that way things might have been different.

The fact it was my chance to first visit to Loftus Rd in a decade made it all the harder to take.

Wow asking for one key moment in this season is like asking what part of the hole in the Titanic is to blame for it sinking. Apart from a couple of games there has been no complete team performance where we could say we were unlucky to lose that game. One game the defence is solid but the midfield or attack is rubbish. The next game it is the other way round.
Personally I think the rot had set in way before the season even started. So for me the key moment is Hughes not leaving in the summer.

Passenger: What's that scraping noise?

Captain Hughes: Nothing to worry about. Give me a bit more time and it will go away.

Yep - totally agree. We were relegated before the season started. The 0-5 v Swansea was a massive warning. if you step back and look at the season, most games (1-3 v Soton 0-3 v Liv 1-4 v Swan) have followed the opening day pattern, with few exceptions.

Infact if you look at last season, the only reason we stayed up then was because Bolton/Wolves were absolute gash and Blackburn had Steve Kean. We weren't ready for the Prem in 2011 (that was purely thanks to Warnock being an exceptional CHAMPIONSHIP manager)) and the Fernandes takeover came at a dreadful time (Aug/Sep 2011) for the club.

We looked suspect against bad Asian teams pre-season.

Wish I could be like David Watts
