Darling to leave also? 13:18 - Jan 28 with 1113 viewsRhonddaSwans

Do we cash in and use it for low?
It would make sense to get the lad up to speed in the championship.
But losing grimes and Darling in the same week would suck as been as with the extra space on the budget surely Harry could be given the arm band then a nice sweetener.

But that is just my opinion .

We either cash in now and get a player in or we lose him for free to a rival.
Swansea without Grimes or Darling would be new and exiting .
Our home form should keep up but losing another key player is a nightmare

Three interested teams. They all want to sign him in the summer but cannot allow a rival to beat them to the punch with a cash bid now. If Coleman tells Darling he will not wear the shirt again he will move.

I wouldn’t be so sure. If his agent is telling him he can pick up £1m as a free agent in June or a couple of hundred thousand as a signing on fee now, that’s a huge difference and a massive incentive to sit tight. If he feels “disrespected” because he didn’t get an offer on a contract earlier then he just might say @@@@ you and sit tight. If he does the latter, he’s unlikely to pick up injuries either.

Birmingham will pay him more than that for signing plus a salary scale depending on the league they are in, possibly Premier League shortly. It all depends if he wants to be part of the "project".

Some players think like this but most do not. They are footballer and want to play football.

Darling is wanted and in the prime of his career. Six month off will do him no good at all. Certain personality type struggle with free time and little purpose. That is when drugs alcohol and gambling come into view.

Read it earlier whilst skiving in work, good article, I posted about that the club has a couple of options let him go for between a 1 and 2 mill or offer him the Captaincy and increase his contract offer its not as if Colema doesn't know what Darling offers [then again] so dangle the carrot and see him improve with the extra responsibility, which he will in my opinion and see his value increase.

Me too. But be quick. Put the offer on the table for him tomorrow. Grimes is going, we want you to take over the armband and here's a whopping new 4 year contract.

If he rejects, we need a good offer to come in and fill the coffers a bit for us to secure Low who I think the club see as being a long term asset. Like the clubs scrambling around for Darling, despite Low apparently currently being keen to come to south wales, we can't afford to to rest on our laurels and expect him to sign when he becomes a free agent in the summer. Who knows whom may come in and offer him better and more attractive terms.

So a lot of what it's in a short space if time, but if Darling is not going to re-sign and we get 1.5m+ (he's worth more than that but has only 6 months left) that would mean we could still secure Low and get a small profit.
