I wonder if Grimes goes for a decent fee does that mean big bad Thomas Henry comes back into play? He has not gone anywhere so far and might be waiting for developments. Grimes out for £8m Henry in for £3.5m with an elite loan replacing Grimes.

Sounds good but wouldn’t mind a RB/RWB option with Roberts out until October.

The journalist tweet linked in that article as their source says 6m with bonuses "compris"/included. A huge part would be on promotion you would think, if there's substance to the rumour. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I can't imagine we are going to spend £5m unless we are about to sell someone for £20m +

We aren't in financial trouble. If Cabango goes for £6m that's just stupid, not desperate.

Is there literally a shred of evidence to back this up!? Cabango should be very grateful to Cooper for giving him a second chance last season when he was a very silly boy. Had Cooper argued with Rodon when we undersold him too?

Cooper didn’t fancy him at start of season but had to give in towards end due to his consistent performances and the change to a 4. It wouldn’t be a Cooper choice selling for that low, that’s on Winter, he needs to earn his crust with that one if he’s going.

Levy tucked us there, did the same in a previous deal I think, we've been a bit naïve in some deals we've done.

Not really. We needed the money for Rodon more than we needed Rodon. It's a small shame that we wasted it by giving it to Cooper.

If Rodon was worth £11 Cabango should be over £15 million. Not only more robust but also gets a few goals and assists that Joe doesn't have in him.

Hopefully the goal threat adds something to his price tag from any interested clubs. Much of Rodon's value was in how he had every necessary ingredient to become a top end PL defender. Taller, faster, less heavy on the turn and less likely to trip over his own feet than Cabango. Can defend 1v1 and as part of an organised unit. Rodon's time at Spurs has shown how far away great performances in the Championship are from the expectations at Premier League level. Guehi's comfort on the ball should serve him well but obviously Cabango's a step in the other direction in that respect.

Cabango's skills at academy level have been knocked out of him He was very comfortable with the ball at feet but there again he did have the semblance of a midfield to work with. Rodon, for me, was easily knocked off the ball and spent too much time on his knees with arms out appealing to the ref. Rodon has the air of a PL (Melchester United) player but his stats for us weren't great. At the same age and stage independent ratings had Joe around 6.9 Ben at 7.1. Cabango is also a leader and organiser.

Those ratings are always massively influence by goals. I wouldn't have said Cabango had "skills" at academy level but he did have a bit of calmness about him on the ball which is tested when players step up a level of intensity if the quickness of feet isn't there. Cian Harries a similar case. Classy passer of a 40 yard ball given time and space but couldn't replicate it in the Eredivisie. Cabango's bulked up a bit since then which has cost him some pace. I'm sure Rodon could put him in touch with a good dietician. [Post edited 16 Jul 2021 12:38]
