Good news for those of us who have the vaccine & are not stuck on a plane with idiots who wont have it. I would imagine the sensible people who cant have it for medical reasons wouldn't want to travel anyway. |
Holiday prices are gonna be mega, I've been hoping to go to Japan to visit Koi Carp farms, gonna need a second mortgage to go now I think

I saw recently that air fares to Australia had quadrupled because they were restricting numbers on flights. We certainly won't be thinking of going abroad anytime soon, it could be 2023 before we do. We'll wait for the pandemic to really settle down and then see how the land lies, of course brexit should have settled in too and we'll see how that's going too. I'm all for hiring a good camper van and taking a drive to Scotland, never been. We can take the dog too then. Being an old souk I hate the thought of putting him in kennels now he's nearly 12. Koi Carp farms in Japan, sounds fishy to me.

That just about sums up our plans, although swap Scotland for Ireland. This will be the second year we haven't been away, we usually take 2 sunshine holidays a year, one in May(Egypt) and another in September(Turkey), although, we were planning somewhere special this March for our wedding anniversary, but that's gone tits up now. As they say, "Every cloud" as a result our holiday fund had built up significantly, and our car needed an upgrade, so instead of the usual 2 year old second hand, we bought a spanking new one, but I'd much rather we had the holidays.

Covid Passports on 17:44 - Apr 6 by Scotia | We can believe those who are suitably qualified. Generally those who say lockdown isn't needed and spread anti vax stuff are not relevant experts. Genuine experts all say the same thing that Covid is real and the only way to control it is lockdown, social distancing and vaccination. I hate it but it's true unfortunately. Yeadon is an idiot, a few months ago he insisted the pandemic was over because of natural immunity and that all the cases were due to false positive tests. Don't believe a word he says. |
I disagree, the way I see it, anyone who says anything against the narrative is banished from social media platforms. Look at the prof he is disputing herd immunity, nothing but a downward doom merchant.

They're banished because they are wrong and what they are saying is dangerous and killing people. Yeadon, Sikora, Cahill, Cummins and others like them should probably be prosecuted for manslaughter. I'd love them to be correct but they aren't. They aren't experts they're liers. I know you struggle with lockdown. I absolutely hate it too. Unfortunately it is needed. People are absolutely correct to dispute herd immunity, just look at Manaus in Brazil. If we pursue that strategy we will never get out of this situation, especially with people not turning up for the vaccine. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Covid Passports on 10:52 - Apr 9 by onehunglow | Yep.Im with that What genuinely angers and puzzles me is this: We have a cure ,a killer virus that has killed millions world wide,150,000 here.Yet... Some don't see mask wearing as effective /warranted Social distancing simply as a means of subjugating freedom of the individual. We find a vaccine through outstanding scientists of whom we should be super proud BUT it MIGHT not be 100 % free of a side effect. So no,we won't have it as we want to be free. Human Rights is about the freedom for people to live whenever possible without fear and the biggest fear I can think of is covid and death. For people to deny this and to give them the chance to spread it is manslaughter. Johnson has been too soft in many ways but he has done a good job with this vaccine roll out.It shames most of Europe which should hang its head in shame. |
love witnessing the inner authoritarian manifesting in people. Next we’ll hear that those refusing the vaccine should be placed in extermination chambers. That’s where this is going, no doubt. Nazi Germany 2.0

I don't believe everyone who says anything different to what the government say are lying? From what I have read, the government were planning vax passports back last year, yet when questioned about it, told bare faced lies. You are right, I am struggling with lockdown, although when I look at members of my family, and other people, I am not? Example yesterday, I got back from watching the Swans, I said to the missis, right, I'll watch Liverpool V Villa now, next thing she was sobbing her heart out, I said whats the matter? I'm fed up of being stuck in she said. These people, may be lying, they may be not? Although I ask myself if they were, what would they get out of it? When I listen to someone apart from the government narrative it all seems pretty plausible to me. I am keeping an eye on Brazil and India, it does go against what some people are saying. And in certain quiet moments, I must admit I do question myself that not taking the vax could be the biggest gamble of my life.

Lockdown is horrible. It is an absolute last resort. Lots of people feel like your Mrs, hopefully this will be the last one. You have to look at the people who are saying these things, over 99% of them are speaking outside of their area of expertise. Sikora is a cancer Dr, Yeadon is a drug researcher, Cahill studies protein and Katie Hopkins is a tw@. Not a virologist, epidemiologist or immunologist between them. You very rarely find a relevant expert saying anything other than lockdown and vaccination is the only way deal with covid. I don't know exactly what they get from it but they are build up a big following so some financial incentives will follow. There's no such thing as bad publicity. I noticed this weekend that Sikora has a column in the Express, he's not doing that for free, it would be fine if it was about cancer. It's not, it's about covid and is called the "positive professor" there's very little to be positive about!

Thanks for that, regarding the missis, I hope so to, I'm trying to encourage her to come out! I think since last March, she has been out only 2 or 3 times, and that was only for a medical appointment. She is due her second vaccination shortly, so hopefully after that, in her mind she will feel safe. About the experts, I generally don't look at their credentials, but when I have I do find that the ones who generally oppose the government strategy of combatting covid, have better qualifications that some of the scaremongers they trump up on the national news. I'm not going to research every one of those you mention, but Cahill does a bit more than study protein, she has a degree in Molecular Genetics, and also a PHD in Immunology.

I'm sure her confidence will come back. I really hope you both have a good summer. I generally look into those who seem to say things that are too good to be true. Straight away most of them stand out as cranks. Yeadon actually claimed to be more qualified than anyone on SAGE, he's not even a medical Dr. Dolores Cahill is a very well qualified woman, but obviously with a significant agenda. I've seen a video of her saying that Covid immunity is life long and it clearly isn't. Just look at this. https://www-thejournal-ie.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.thejournal.ie/debunked-dolo

One has to ask the question - if you’ve had the vaccine what does it matter if you’re mixing with the unvaccinated or even infected. Isn’t that’s what the vaccines are there to do? Make the recipient immune??

They are not there for you to play Russian roulette. It's not known how effective they are yet especially against the variants. The Pfijer one doesn't seem to be that effective against the S African one. Best to be cautious

Do what now? Another Nazi reference but about public health measures meant to save peoples lives. Do people sit at home thinking up these cretinous things? I wonder how many of the doctors advocating full vaccination programmes and the measures we need to take to win this fight will feel about being called Nazi's? Is anybody who agrees with having rules a Nazi? PS, those countries that have a mandatory vaccination requirement before you can enter, are they all Nazi's? [Post edited 12 Apr 2021 18:47]

This 100%. One thing I will say to those who refuse to have the vaccination. If we all acted the same way we would not now be coming out of lockdown and probably be in a third wave where you could die.

There's no mystery about this or any virus. It's only passed by close human contact and bad hygiene.Put that right and it goes away. The problem is, visitors constantly coming from overseas. This is why we have the vaccine. There would be no need if everyone observed basic social distancing rules, but some are not able or willing to understand this.

I agree. Which is where I think a lack of enforcement as we move out of lockdown is a huge issue.
