Andy Carroll, Danny Drinkwater, Scott Dann, Baba Rahman...are they just attempting to bankrupt themselves by the end of the calendar year?

I was under the impression they were already skirting perilously close to FFP problems, this would seem to suggest they weren't, but will be soon.

1 goal in 37 for Newcastle you just know he'll score against us.

Surely he's not actually fit enough to play?

It does sound like a ridiculous punt when you're strapped for cash. Sandro anyone?

Surely Scott Dann's about 40?

Checked - almost, 34.

At least the sicknotes we signed were young and a good chance of full recovery.

Apparently they are under a transfer embargo of sorts

Say what you like about FFP governance but I'm really quite liking this having to sign freebie tat in embargo purgatory as punishments go.

I read somewhere they were limited to players earning no more then 8k per week? Derby were limited to 3k per week so the embargo thing is case by case and ffp exposure?

He will score boatloads, get a new fat contract and then get injured, only to come back and get injured again. This is the way.

So at the time of that article they had 18 professionals that were experienced and the EFL under the embargo will allow 23. It would also allow dispensation to strengthen certain areas if there is a shortfall of senior players and it mentioned that Reading at the time only had 4 senior defenders. So to cover that they've signed the midfielder from Birmingham, Drinkwater and now linked with Carroll. And the best bit about the article is the bleating from their manager that they should not be penalised for over spending in the past, ie. breaking the rules! Yeah right. Well, lets hope that starting with a mauling by Rangers that they suffer a relegation combined with further EFL sanctions.

If he stays fit.... he won't if he cant manage the Premier league games every now and then he wont manage championship with the extra games Tuesday Saturday etc.

Poor signing - I thought they were cash strapped but they always seem to get away with it...

They seem to be trying to emulate Warnock's idea of filling the team with experience with a few young players around them. It may actually work. Obviously I hope it fails miserably.

Never knowingly right.

All these signings could go one of two ways.

Wish we had played them before the international break when it would have been a likely three points.

I like that skilful , mercurial midfield player they have btw, think he came thru the Liverpool youth team - would be v happy if we got him at the end of the season, assuming he is still there?

Reading FC had been strongly linked with a move for former Newcastle United striker and free agent Andy Carroll but the two parties failed to reach an agreement by the 11pm deadline.

Surely there is no deadline for employing a free agent
