Sholud Wales rollout vaccination at full speed. on 19:17 - Jan 18 by Wingstandwood
Utterly surreal stuff, beggars belief, a government that prefers to have a 1960's standard transport network, refuses money to upgrade a part of it.... and blatantly delays/refuses vaccines to a population that desperately requires them asap. All the newspapers are now starting to notice the backward and incompetent yokels we have in charge!
FFS its black-comedy surreal, like something out of a CH4 Brass Eye sketch i.e. refusing to give vaccines, cos vaccinators might end up using them to fast to save lives in the process.
Thank God we do not have full independence cos the country would end up like Moldova or Venezuela albeit with hundreds of more quango's.
People would be paddling over to Devon to claim asylum.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Aye, I can remember one post on here, if memory serves me correct it was from yourself , its when you compared Cardiff Bay policies to 'The Hunger Games' scenario/storyline.
A wealthy capitol gets everything whilst everyone and everything outside it, is blatantly impoverished. It does rather look that's the strategy unfolding. A case of deliberately making places poorer by every passing year and leaving them to rot! Could you imagine another 20 years of that lot in Cardiff. It's scary! People might end up escaping to Devon?

The pace of the rollout in Wales is certainly disappointing when compared to England. However there is another issue that needs to be highlighted which nobody seems to be questioning at the moment. The CMOs of the 4 home nations all agreed that the 2nd vaccine dose should be delayed from 3 weeks to up to 3 months. Pfizer has clearly stated that they have no efficacy data for this delay, and other countries, such as the USA, have continued to follow the Pfizer guidelines and vaccinated 2nd doses at the recommended interval. Despite my concerns about efficacy ( Pfizer's initial data suggested 52% protection after one dose ) I understand the argument for delaying the 2nd dose and vaccinating as many people as possible as quickly as possible. When I last saw an update Wales had administered just 129 2nd doses. England has administered over 400,000 2nd doses. What's going on there then and what might be the effects on immunity of this delay? This might be an explanation for some of Drakeford's spare vaccines?? Health Boards were originally told that they must have a guaranteed 2nd dose available for every 1st dose given.

But the vaccine will be in people quicker hence saving lives. Which is the lesser of the two evils?
The public will ask why we aren't vaccinating this week and he's a politician and has to have an answer. If he says we have run out this week he will be criticised for that. It's a no win. They would all do the same, he's not unique

He won't run out because we have plenty of Oxford, it is finished in Wrexham.
We also know when we are getting Pfizer / moderna deliveries.
Worst case scenario we may have to slow down, and that would be a great position to be in.

Aye, that was me.
As far as I can tell things seem to have gotten worse since 1999. They're not even pretending to treat the whole of the country equally any more.
Perhaps the single most disgusting example was the decision to site the major trauma centre in Cardiff, despite Morriston being far better located for the "Golden Hour" travel time for a greater number of people. If you live in West Wales you're f*cked.

If we use all the stock in one week and we don't get the delivery for 2 weeks, he will be asked why aren't we vaccinating this week. He can't win
He's not meant to win , he's meant to do his job of which he's paid handsomely with a golden pension , unlike those of whom lives have been ruined and whose future is looking bleaker as each day passes. Its not a race , no not to him and his lot it isn't, they're protected.

Of course he want's to win, he's a politician he's not a CEO of a private company, and has to have the answers. Lives have not been ruined by him, but by Westminster incompetence. If you want incompetence look there, the list is huge

Health is fully devolved. The incompetence of the Westminster cabal is literally irrelevant in this issue. The buck stops with Mark.
The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

Not just health, but the control of the pandemic. Not closing the borders, letting flights in, no testing or quarantining, a failed test and trace, the list goes on. Those are all the fault of Westminster not Cardiff.

The alternatives are as equally unappealing.
Plaid cymru for me at least they may invest in the whole of wales and drive the country forward. The red and the blue tw@ts are useless both regionally and nationally.

Where would they get this investment from?

Closing borders? The welsh government literally owns the airport. They also made non essential travel illegal beyond was it five miles? But of course they didn’t bother to enforce it. There was a point officially at least where you couldn’t leave Neath Port Talbot and enter swansea and vice versa without a good reason, local counties were in individual lockdown, there were borders between every part of Wales according to the rules but again they didn’t bother enforcing it. The options have been there for them since the start.

That has got to be one of your dumbest posts ever, read it again slowly
If all the vaccine is used up on week one, there will be none to use on week two.Questions will then be asked, why aren't we vaccinating on week two. The answer will then be , we don't have any, A question will be asked why don't we have any left, it should have been made to last. A bit convoluted i know, but it's the kind of questions Joe Public will ask.
