QPR cult hero Devon White is the special guest on this week’s Open All R’s Podcast.

White was known as Bruno to the Rangers fans during his spell with the club in the mid 90s and was known for an unorthodox playing style and surprisingly decent goals per game record.

Speaking to the podcast on Monday White said: “There were a lot of other players from Bristol Rovers down there with me — Ian Holloway, Gary Penrice, Dennis Bailey — and it was like a home from home for me. I settled in quite well.

“I’m a realist. I know that had I been born a few years later maybe I would have made it, maybe I wouldn’t, but I just loved it. I started playing when players like Bob Latchford were coming to the end of their careers and the money we were earning compared to what he’d been paid was a lot different.”

Host David Fraser was joined in the studio by Gemma Fumagalli, Neil Jackson from QPR 1st, and some mouthy idiot from LoftforWords.

Toast_R added 10:26 - Feb 5 He sounded nothing like I thought he might. Great bloke though, standout memory for me were his goal against Ipswich in a 3-0 home win as Les was out injued, standing on the Loft singing Bruno.

qprninja added 12:08 - Feb 5 Toast R, I remember that header against Ipswich, absolute thumper into the top corner! My cousins were over from Canada at the time and had never been to a football match before (or since), but to this day they still talk about Devon White and THAT header.
