That is rubbish sorry. The club performed a share buyback at a set price per share. The price per share was governed by what division the club was in at the time. Mel decided to cash in when the club reached the championship. The buyback meant that everybodies share percentage increased in ratio to the shares they held. The trust were part of that and got the same as everyone.

As an example the trust held 200,000 shares out of 1 million = 20% before Mel sold. Once Mel sold they held 200,000 shares out of 950,000 shares ie 21%.

.... and that is exactly what happened.

It might also pain some but Mel did very well out of the club in the petty ousting as well doubling his money and getting the carpark

They have made some bad mistakes but in fairness have found the money to fund those mistakes to date. All told must be about £40 million in the past 3 years

In which way Keith ?

There wouldn't be a Swans womens team of any substance if Dineen hadn't taken it over years ago and help fund it. They wouldn't have become semi pro last season either if it hadn't been for the substantial payment made from the womens team into the club last summer.
I am told it was in excess of £125,000 which shows the team/club were doing pretty well before being integrated into the main club

New coach for Swansea City
at 14:58 17 May 2024

It Looks like Dineen has got his way eventually. He got rid of the coach last Sept/Oct and wanted to bring in Jamie Sherwood as the replacement but ended up having to put the under 19s coach in charge for the remainder of the season. The 19s coach did pretty well.

SWANSEA CITY CONFIRM LATEST ACCOUNTS ...
at 10:14 2 May 2024

Your first para:
The wage bill was £20 mill and all would have been contracted before he came in on 5th of May - nothing he could do about that nor was it his fault.
So you could tenuously blame him for the rest of the costs, well actually only 25% of them which amounts to about £4.5 million but even then i doubt he could have done much between May and the end of July to mitigate them.

I have zilch confidence in his ability to financially run the ship. I see nothing in his background that would make me think otherwise. Raising finance for people to build hotels is not the same as running a £20 mill business with 100's of staff *. Chuck in the fact it is a football business and he will be closer to financial Armageddon than breakeven.

Let's see what his first full year brings but i don't think it will be good

* the caveat to that is he has brought over a ' chief of staff ' ..... God help us !

I actually think it is more than £25 mill if you include Morris. Jenkins comment about ' the next level ' is coming home to roost. The sellers never had the money to keep the club going like this ( Although they prob wouldn't have wasted as much either )

They have over 75% of the voting rights so do not need to pump in money for that reason

If they remain semi pro then they will look to get into the English system. They will make no money from paying crowds as it stands and the welsh league is going nowhere.

They get approximately 100 supporters at home games and it is free entry.

It is good that they have appointed someone to oversee things but looking at her background it seems she is a commercial person so my guess is that primarily she will be looking for sponsorship, partnerships and the like. Just checked and i'm told leigh dineen still oversees the first team.

Why would you believe anything that comes out of Leviens mouth ?

I said it on here before. There was a ' Heads of terms ' in place for the sale to happen. I am reliable informed that the terms included the Trust being brought to the table once the sale could happen . The sale ' could ' only happen if Premier status was achieved. I am pretty sure that Levien met with the trust after we secured premier league and Levien has said they did not want to sell their shares

Your last paragraph is interesting as awhile back i heard that angel Russ took more than a couple of staff with him. Scouts and analysts were mentioned. In all over 10 staff left with him. For some reason that has been kept quiet. This might be the reason they needed building up

Swans shareholder interview
at 18:55 29 Dec 2023

There was alot said about ' the no win no fee ' deal and if i recollect the Trust were nervous of doing it as even if they won they wouldn't have ended up with anywhere near what the shares were worth.

Jase and truth in the same sentence just doesn't happen. He says whatever gets him out of trouble.

When agreement was made between the selling shareholders and the Americans a ' Heads of terms ' was drawn up. I am told there was a clause in it reference the trust and it certainly wasn't saying to exclude them. In fact quite the opposite. It is a shame the HOT hasn't been made public.

Swansea City’s puppet masters in conflict with themselves

It may have been a sound concept but was pie in the sky. The trust would have needed £4 mill to buy the shares. I either read or heard at the time that they wanted the other shareholders to gift them the shares.
