Interesting that two long-standing employees are gone - makes you wonder (i) what were we doing for so long or (ii) was tenure the problem

Per the original post - he has played with some absolute dross and still done himself proud. Amazing to see what having a good partner in the middle does for him.

Very curious to see where Marti's career goes as I get very very good impressions of him. When he talks I listen to every word much the way I do when the top coaches get interviewed after a game - love listening to how he thinks about football.

I'd be curious to hear from the man himself but I would like to guess that he is carrying more of the relegation burden than anyone else in this squad. For most of this season he has been the sole source of creativity (we rely on him most the time), which puts more pressure and focus on him to deliver. I saw some negativity towards him online after Stoke - the bloke tried everything. He's also been at the club the longest so is most invested. Hopefully the additions of Hodges and Andersen and Willock seemingly starting to pull his weight can take some of the burden and focus off Illy. I'm glad that cut back from Andersen was to Illy - that was the smartest thing about that play - picking someone who would slot it and not waste it.

So, according to CEO Nourry
at 04:38 7 Feb 2024

Tend to agree. I'm honestly not that close to things any more being in the States but based on what I've read online we were given some very favorable deals by friends of the owners/club, not Nourry. It could turn out that the best part of this transfer window is two loaners that we couldn't otherwise afford that help us out of this situation (great) but disappear in the summer to more lucrative places leaving us back where we started (no LT plan). I'm curious to to see how the other two signings work out; always hopefully but I'm not expecting them to be the same caliber as H&H. I hope Nourry turns out to be a great hire and can sharpen up our club - there seems to have been more collaboration on these signings and more openness with the fans as to how the deals were done, which feels like a step in the right direction.

Dunne paired with Cook, and under Cook's tutelage feels good to me. Nice to have some options back there for once with Cannon joining too.

I did find it strange when RG revealed that during the FF. The last I heard there was a huge blow-up with the council over LCS yet at a not too distant fans forum in Sep23 we're hearing there have been two years of productive / collaborative talks with the same council. Did things not go full circle back to LCS?! Mysterious stuff. Probably talking to the arm and the leg of the organization on each site.

Really enjoyed that FF. The stadium news was the significant take-away for me and the faces on all four was telling when the Taylor Richards question was asked. I think GA demonstrated some solid man management at that point.

Agreed. It's the same reason we also need to accumulate points when we are able to field a stronger / preferred lineup.

I saw a lot of the Twitteratti clenched on to the "possession can do one" comment. Personally, I think it is far too early to tell what GA's QPR will look like and I'm pretty sure GA doesn't fully believe that comment to be true. Since GA's come in he's basically been firefighting one sh*t-show to the next with a constantly rotating list of available / unavailable, out-of-form, low-on-confidence players and players that simply don't want to be there. I'd hold out until next season before assessing out our style of play but if you offered me Warnock's QPR vs. Rodger's Swansea of 2010/11, I would take the former. I do think there is a line between meaningless possession and effective, direct, attacking play.

Agree on both counts. When they laid out the season and what had happened you could see how damaging that appointment had been and TBF they did what most of us would have done in appointing NC. Ho hum.

As far as character and personality goes, we couldn't ask for a better man - we are lucky to have him leading our team. If things going well on the pitch this could be a special time.
