Picked the same line up other than changing the goalie despite saying he got it wrong vs Forest. The team that finished was much stronger but need to amend this ridiculous passing at the back. United will rest everyone and play the reserves knowing we'll give them a couple of goals. |

The numbers players go for now is insane. I know he had some injuries but I don't think he even started a championship game. 10 mn for him vs the quoted 18 mn price on Alacrez's head doesn't compute for me. (Although 12 mn for Mara seemed a lot too).
I remember when jap staam went to Utd for 11 mn and it was considered that no defender would ever fetch that much again! |

I can't really see what shape we're trying to play. It looks like there is a big gap in the middle where we need someone to link up the forwards. Pretty poor first half but we should come out better in the second half |

I said it a while back, a THB style obligation to buy is we stay up would be a perfect outcome. I guess the only thing holding it back would be his personal terms and salary. |

He's another Berty Big Balls. I've read a couple of articles that he "did not want to join a lower half team" but that the inclusion of the mandatory purchase by Ipswich if the stay up only works if his personal terms are met.
I don't blame him, if I played for Chelsea U23 and got loaned out a few times and had a chance to make 10s of millions I'd do the same. But, like so many, once life altering money is on the table, the idea of pushing yourself to the limit to be the best you can probably becomes a challenge in itself. |

Good opening 15 mins. Sugawara looks nervous but once he settles he can get up and down better. I thought we'd look lightweight but so far maybe we were lightweight in championship but sufficiently physical for the premier league? |

Reminds me a bit of the Forren debacle. We were so desperate at centre back everyone was clamouring for him to start/get fit and no one realized he wasn't any good (I'm not sure he ever actually played for us in the end). Bit of an echo chamber on here about how poor McCarthy is that any keeper must clearly be better than what we've got... |

I doubt Arsenal would want to strengthen their rivals and it wouldn't be a definite he'd be number one long term there too.
As I said on a different thread, a loan with obligation to buy if we stay up sounds like a good structure to me for all parties. |

I'm hoping the delay on a keeper announcement is due to the complexities of how much one will cost and fitting in their wages. I would hope a similar deal to THB for Ramsay could be struck whereby we have an obligation to buy if we stay up and pay part of his wages for this season. This would save money going out the door this season on a transfer fee and, if we stay up, I'm sure the club would love to lock in a keeper of Ramsays quality. |

We've been linked with Brandon Williams multiple times in the past but his salary even as a reserve teenager at Utd was crazy and he wouldn't accept a lower wage for game time. I guess he just worked that contract down going out on loan but I don't recall seeing too much excitement about him beyond the fact Utd deemed him worth a shot of a big contract when he was very young that hasn't worked out. |
