I agree, KWP technically good on the ball & a threat going forward but an absolute liability defending.(that's why he's still here with us, other clubs have sussed out his weaknesses)
I'm very surprised that we've never tried playing him in midfield or even on the wing.
We wouldn't have to worry about his defending then. |

Tall Paul might not of scored but he made a huge difference to the way we played.
We actually looked dangerous going forward, we looked like scoring goals.
He was a handful for the West Ham defence.
Who else have we got that can have that impact on a game, no one.
Give him a run of games & he'll score goals which is more than Adam Armstrong is likely to do.
I'd like to see Cameron Archer playing alongside Tall Paul, that would be our best set up. |

At least we were getting balls into their box & creating chances with Tall Paul up front.
That's more than we have been doing in previous games. |

Ivan Juric has done what RM was afraid to do, he's given Tall Paul a start today.
At least it shows the new coach has some bottle & gives TALL Paul a chance to convince us that he can do a job. |

ABK is a monster, but a wasted talent.
Perhaps his attitude does let him down but he like many others he just wouldn't suck up to RM hence was never considered.
Charlie Taylor is another that should be playing but never got on with RM.
Same applies to Tall Paul.
I'd really like it if Ivan at least gives them a chance, I think all 3 of them would improve our team. |

Just watched Ivan's first Press Conference & yes he does speak good English which helps us to at least understand him.
Despite being asked a few daft questions I think he handled it very well & my first impression is that he'll improve us, that is all we ask.

We need more than a ctr forward.
Even Haaland wouldn't score with no service.
We need more creativity from midfield.
Downes continues to disappoint me this season & Aribo just not good enough.
Adam Lallana would give us the quality & creativity but he can't last 90 mins.
We'll probably get Shea Charles back in January he's yet to prove himself on Premier Lge.
I know that sounds negative but that is the reality of the situation.
But while there's life there's hope. |

Ramsdale hitting long clearances instead of suicidal 5yd passes in our own box is a massive e boost to our chances of not conceding silly goals & possibly picking up a few points.
But I couldn't understand why Ramsdale was kicking everything long down the left wing, virtually all of them went straight out of play. What a waste.
If we going to play longer balls out from the back ( & I hope we do) then Tall Paul must start up front, we need a target man & he's the best we've got. |

We do look more solid with a back 3 including Wood (not Stephens).
But I worry about our full / wing backs.
Where's Charlie Taylor.
Downes & Aribo are just not strong enough in midfield, Downes in particular cannot win the ball without giving a foul away.
And we're non existent up front,
AA continues to run around like a little boy lost.
Dibling looks decidedly disinterested now, I think his head is in a different place now.
Bringing Tall Paul on in 88th is a waste of time, he should have started, he must be so frustrated with the way he's been treated. [Post edited 22 Dec 17:57]

I just don't get that.
Archer has been our best forward this season & we all know that Armstrong is a Championship player.
I would have liked to see Tall Paul start alongside Archer, he deserves a chance. |

He might be a Maniac, but he's not a magician.
He'll need a magic wand to turn our desperate season around.
But I'm hopeful that we'll get a team worth watching again, we've been deprived of that for too long now. |

Not sure he'll be here next season to get us out of Championship.
He has a break clause in the contract which allows him to leave at end of season or for us to sack him at end of season.
He's guaranteed 2 Yr contract if in the very unlikely event that he keeps us up.
He'll deserve more than that if he keeps us up, perhaps the "Freedom of the City" . |

If Juric prefers Stephen's as one of his Ctr Backs then he'll immediately go down in my estimation.
Stephen's like Martin should be history.
A strong coach should be able to manage difficult players so I would like to see if he can get a tune out of ABK not Stephen's. |

Come on Grumps.
We all wanted Martin out didn't we, we're not spoilt for choice because there are not many Managers / Coaches that would relish & accept this job.
It worries me that Juric was sacked after only 12 games with Roma, let's just hope he lasts a bit longer with us.
We know that we are down this season, Most of us just want to see an improvement & some football that we can enjoy, Martin never produced that.
Let's not tag him as "Ivan the Terrible" just yet. |
