Yeah.
A better performance overall, although that wasn't difficult given the shite we've witnessed recently. First half was most things that people have been begging Williams to do for months: More tempo to our play, less faffing around with the ball for the sake of it, Grimes actually spending time in midfield.
Sadly for the second half Sheff Utd came out like they'd had a rocket up their arses and we came out like the half time Lucozade had been spiked with Tramadol. I'd love to know what he says to them. Familar story after that, although pleasing to see how hard most of them battled as the half wore on. |

We should have gone in 2 nil up but the ref jibbed on a pen Peart Harris should have adopted the SheffieldbUtd players attitude of rolling over in agony whenever they were touched.
Their left back shoukd have had a 2nd yellow and been off for an early bath.
As usual we sat the second half on first gear while our opponents are in overdrive..the red killed it but fair dos we tried to make a game of it when down to 10 men.
I was mystified by the decision to play Key rather than Naughton at CB but Williams Hartley and Sheehan were in a long discussion before making the change.
Ronald put in a real shift today and he was battered first half twice receiving an elbow in the face without receiving a free kick.
For.me it didn't look like this was a team not playing for the manager.
Unfair to level tonights result purely to Williams and going g forwards the task he has becomes even harder if Darlings red card stands.....he may as well start clearing his desk as the odds are now stacked against him.... |  |

Key has ŕeally got into the bad habit of taking too many touches while standing still, not seen a replay of the Sheffield penalty looked like big man fell over little man and couldn't tell from afar how much contact was involved.

Nothing has changed then .
As. Clueless fan ,my priority would be
1. To somehow off load Brimes to someone . He’s key to it all
2. Sell/ loan/ dump Key . He has been a walking disaster for tgree months . He’s been lucky until tonight .
3. Williams is neither coach nor manager
Keeping him will cost us more than it would to sack him.
Fans have fxxxxoff fast and it’s easy to see why .
Sheff Utd were an affront . That said,a referee of some credibility would have sent at least two off .
They were clever though and looking at them and their changes ,LUKEY, it was obvious what was going to happen early in second half..

In fact it was almost as though the ref had blown before he fell.
Agree re the ref so consistently inconsistent with yellow cards handing them out like mad against us yet waving play on or just awarding a free kick if a Utd player committed a similar offence
On another note not sure if Coleman expected trouble tonight but there was a large contingent of additional security personnel around the steps ro the directors box which are not usually there ...amazing too given the liw crowd | |

It wasn't just the ref the officials were particularly poor and inept.
Wilder spent most of the game out of his technical area almost on the pitch in fact several times in the second half he was stood inside the touchline on rhenpitch...rhe 4th official didn't bat an eyelid despite cries from the crowd. | |

Did seem to be a bit of unusual movement of stewards on the East stand on the south of the stand as if something was amiss but I promptly ignored it as my attention was drawn back to the game hoping to get something out of it. | | | |

Completely agree.
I thought he’d lost the players, still not convinced he hasn’t, but you can’t argue with the commitment last night. Game hinged on decisions and we got completely shafted.
I still want him gone, he showed his hand, we know now he’ll waffle on about building things, but he’ll be off as soon as a slightly better offer comes along.
The frustrating thing, is if we’d put that much in against Cardiff, Portsmouth (and Hull although that was before his episode), we’d quite likely have beaten all of them. | | | |

Key lost the flight of he ball for the penalty, we have seen him do that at right back, if he concentrate on the ball not the player he would have picked it off no problem instead as he is looking at the player, it bounces before it gets anywhere near the Sheffield player, if Key had watched the flight of the ball he would have got between it and the opposition player who would have had to go through him to get it.
Key is not great under the high ball as said earlier he let's the ball go over his shoulder even at fullback. | | | |

We keep making the same mistakes we knew at the start of the second half they would come at us but we let ourselves get overloaded on the wings again it only takes one or two players to switch off. They upped the press and we thought we had rode it out but when the pressure becomes relentless then your defending has to be relentless and spot on to stop the crosses coming in, we didn't and haven't for lots of games, we are getting players across the front post but pull backs or whipped in crosses even with deflections are killing us, we have to stop those crosses by not allowing the wingers time and space on the ball that we are giving them so near to our penalty area. | | | |

They should be prepared to expect change and adapt accordingly the fact that we cannot and keep getting beaten is the worry. Same players on the pitch for us that looked a match for Sheffield become a vulnerable mess.
