Apologies if there is a transfer thread I'm opening a thread for the January transfer window which has now opened.

Who should be a potential signing for us and who should move on either via loan or permanently? I've heard Kyrell Lisbie & Gus Scott Morriss mentioned as potential targets but could they potentially make the jump from NL to L2? Some players do but others don't.

Plus actual transfers that we bring in & out can also be mentioned here.

...and now Kyreece Lisbie from Brentford on a 2.5 year deal - excellent signing!

We are also linked with a Championship striker - I wonder who that could be?

Looks like we've got some decent signings in. Kyreece looks a good one if Kyrell's form at Braintree Town is anything to go by

Latest; Eddie the Eagle to go on loan to Essex CCC from May to August in an economically mutually beneficial arrangement, subject to Avian Flu restrictions.

Ha ha! Superb!

Some good late late signings

As far as I'm concerned the jury is still out on Anthony Scully but providing he can stay fit.

This evening has been productive and very entertaining. Hopefully the additions to the squad can make a positive contribution.

Let's see how many can hit the ground running. At least two are still recovering from injury.

An excellent transfer deadline day - I suspect at least one or two are with one eye on next season.

Sounds like Sampson Tovide remains with us?

Given DC’s phone line was allegedly “hot”, yet he stays, does this mean Tovide’s injury is more serious? Have we exercised our right to extend his contract by another year? Surely, we are not going to let him walk away a free agent in June?

Given Sampson is staying and the signing of forwards Lisbie, Scully and Aboh, I wonder, will we ever see (on loan) Tyreece Simpson again? It is perhaps early days, but his uninspiring performances so far remind me of Sunday Wasui (or any other Sunday league player). Frankly, he can return to Stevenage.

Tyreece Lisbie is an interesting one. All the rumours were about his twin brother still at Braintree. I wonder how many of us read “ex Brentford FC” and thought the Gazette has it wrong? Also, how many clubs have two players named Tyreece? As I said, maybe we will soon have one!

Surprisingly, KVY is (arguably) the main gamble. He hasn’t played a first XI game in 12 months and has suffered more injuries than the six-million dollar man. So, have they rebuilt him? That doubt apart, it looks like a very satisfactory last day of the transfer window to me. We ask for a forward, and we get five (if we include retention of Tovide).

According to Transfermarkt, Tovide is under contract until June next year.

Sorry to spoil your fun Noah
It's actually Kyreece Lisbie

Love that Samson is still with us! Maybe his injury came at just the right time?

DC confirms in his interview today that we had 'multiple' offers for Samson (most of the Championship apparently), but it seems like none matched Robbie and Danny's valuation and/or was the right move for Samson. Apparently interest in our 'other attacking players' too - that'll be Edwards and Payne for certain.

Scully sounds like an investment for now, as he is still post-op recuperating, but I get that. Maybe a half dozen games at the end of the season, and then we're first in line for his signature when Pompey release him in the summer.

I'll say again, all in all an excellent transfer window.

Feel DC/NC/RC have done a decent job this window. Got rid of a few and brought in some experience and youth who could benefit us in the future.
Interesting KVY said he has been training with us for a couple of weeks so we must have assessed him well enough.
If he is 75% of the player he wasvwhen he left us be a more than useful addition.

Nice to see us pushing on, when we could have sat with what we have and relative safety.

Couple loanees, couple to asses fitness until end of season. With a mid table spot at present management have the luxury of what could develop for next season and not the pressure of the bottom places dogfight which we have had previously. But with an unbeaten run could look up rather than down still !
Young Lisbie the only commitment and he only used to academy football, so will need more development, unless hits the ground runnning a loan out possibly, but certainly puts pressure on the wide players for a team place.

Hope they all do well.

Samson Tovide.

It sounds as though the club received the most ever enquiries and offers ( ? ) for any player in recent years but rejected all of them.

So, what do Colchester United ( or the owner ) value him at and how far short were all the clubs that expressed an interest?

It would appear the enquiries came in from at least five different countries.

I have often wondered if Samson will complete an entire football season without being sidelined for large chunks of it.

Would be interested to know how much people think he is worth currently. Maybe club expectations are set too high.

DC said any club "had to be right for Samson". At first, I thought "what could not be right about a move to a Championship club for an ambitious young player"? And then, on reflection, realised there could be a few things - such as the risk of becoming a squad player getting limited game time and then perhaps being loaned out. Or not getting the attention from coaching staff that a developing player needs. I don't think he's anywhere near ready for Championship football. He still needs to prove that he can perform consistently at the current level - and as you say, he's had significant injury problems. With his very physical style of play, he needs to know when to put himself about a bit, and when not to. Perhaps that lack of awareness has led to some of the injuries. Hope to see him back asap to show us what we've been missing.

The club must have been confident of selling Samson for a decent fee in this window as they appear to have bought in at least one player too many now in attack....possibly two or three that are unlikely to feature much as the season moves towards a conclusion.

No cups to be involved in, not even The Essex Senior Cup ( which we should be trying to win! ) so likely a few of them will have to be content to make the match day 18.

I would estimate that quite a bit of money has been saved with the transactions that were completed in the past few weeks.

It's almost impossible to contemplate that Ben Goodliffe ( after his amazing start to the season ) would have been shifted out on loan.

It's rapid turnover of players these days and l have a bit of a job keeping up with it all.

The Cowley's will go flat out for a play off place no matter what.

Thank God they came to the club!

I guess they had to plan and recruit as if he were going. He may not be back from his latest injury for a while anyway so in that respect we're not carrying an extra player. I think a number of the signings in this window have been with one eye on next season as quite a few of them will be out of contract in the summer.

Goodliffe was very unfortunate to get that injury when he did. I fully expect him to be back and in the squad, maybe even starting, next season.

Maybe we should be thanking Robbie rather than God.
