Half-decent, but can he learn to shoot?

Varane plus Morgan= a proper midfield

First half definitely but second half he wasn't quick enough to move the ball after they went down to 10. Actually think first half he outshone 'Jobe' (wtf) plus looked a little more dangerous going forward. Has to be his best display for us and hopefully more to come, we'll need him!

Indeed, I thought Madsen was excellent linking up with Smyth, who I wish would chance the odd shot on goal more often when he gets into the box.

He was holding the midfield with an 18 year old on his full debut . Against the league leaders .

Yes, he was magnificent.

Look much more balanced. Both can also play a bit. Morgan looks like find of the season, and not bad for a free transfer. Just hope he keeps improving.

Thought Varane was very good. Celar looked miles better (a run of games now) but just needs a goal.

We looked like an actual team!

Agreed . We controlled in the middle of the park . Morgan was superb as well . Tired a bit towards the end . Lots of to be happy about despite another home game without a win.

One swallow and all that but I totally agree

Can’t split either for the MoM

In Morgan I think we have a real player.
Progressive, busy and tenacious with a pair of bollox on him as well.
Never shy to have a pop at goal and will go toe to toe with bigger players

Fair play

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Played very well today but my only concern is his ability to get through ninety minutes.

Pretty confident he’ll be able to get through 90 mins by the time he turns 19 if he’s playing every week

That was a fantastic midfield performance from Varane today, superb in the challenge today, some very effective forward passes and a threatening presence around the box.

Very happy with him today.

More like that please.

I’ve suspected this for a while, but we looked a lot better without Field in midfield.

Actually passed forward and found spaces (in the first half anyway)

No shade on Sam, he was excellent at centre back, but for games where we’re trying to attack Field’s complete lack of creativity was made obvious today

That performance took me by surprise after seeing the line up.

Varane MOTM - reminds me a bit of Yaya Toure, bossed the midfield, so quick in the tackle, pressed really well and can carry the ball well.

I'm actually more encouraged by Morgan's performance, first touch, awareness and reading of the game show signs of a real player. He has certain qualities that you can tell he will go far, he'll grow physically and could be a future star. Considering Bellingham junior is rated and valued so highly I thought Morgan's performance shows the potential he has to really establish himself in the league.

He's been our best midfielder since he has come back from suspension .

As the kids would say he has an excellent " profile " .

We might have stumbled on something with Varane and Morgan. Best we’ve looked in midfield this season. Varane a lot stronger and not making rash tackles, Morgan seems to have that ability to be in the right place and not afraid to try things.

Good point today, knew already we can’t beat 10 man teams but if we can just find a striker..

What I like about Morgan is that he always looks to pass it forward .

Long way to go but we might have got something with those 2

Superb. He needed time and what after all of 6 games….he’s looking very good. He was written off after 2. I think he is best if the new signings potentially…..we need to get some of JCS, Colback fit though. We can’t rely on a 23 year old in central midfield.

If they are good enough , then 23 years old is definitely OK to have as a first choice midfielder.
