Literally an absolute waste of a man, and the idea of bringing him back in any capacity would be up there with some of the most ridiculous and catastrophic things done by the club in the last 10 years...
...but like the girlfriend you never really got over, the cigarette habit that you could definitely give up if you 'really wanted to', the 'i'm going straight this time' line you tell yourself over and over again as you fall back into the throws of addiction - of course i'd have him back, and i'd welcome him like a returning king.

I would not have him back. He thinks he's better than he is. If he can't do it for Spurs, Milan or Benfica he sure as hell ain't going to for us. That one season was amamzing but I'm sure he thought it would springboard him to a transfer to Real Madrid.

I know there's Stan and Rodders but Adel is simply the most mesmerizing skillful player I've ever seen in the hoops.
I will always thank him for THAT season and Warnock needs another medal for how he got him and the whole squad buying into his methods.
However, the man is obviously a total c0ck. His behavior was summed up at the POTY do that season. He thinks everything and everyone is beneath him.
In a weird way he's probably be a huge success at Barca or Real Madrid as I'm sure in his pea brain he'd feel he was finally on a stage befitting of his talent.
Would I have him back here? Nope.

Weirdly for me his best ever performance was under HR - Chelscum away when SWP scored the winner. Playing up front on his own he gave their defenders nightmares. They just couldn't cope with him. Great memories but no I wouldn't have him back. |  | | |

He only played like that because he wanted to get away from LR as quickly as possible . Even when he was tearing it up and was captain he constantly talked about moving to bigger clubs.

It's a myth, obviously, that only Warnock got anything out of him - he did pretty well under Hughes when wide left of a midfield 5 and was instrumental in our home wins that kept us up that season. and was then our best player under HR for 3 months. And Seedorf got plenty out of him too.
But what he's done at Benfica is criminal. As someone else said, it looks like the penny will never drop. A massive shame.
Can't agree with the general stuff about him being a bell. Most players who talk about him do it fondly. He seems a genuinely nice guy - but one who has never grown up. Shame. |  |
