It's Gower or the Gower Peninsular. As to the best beach I know where it is but I'm not telling you lot but nobody has mentioned it yet.... |

it's like the 'Eagles' not 'The Eagles'...you can say the 'Gower', but not 'The Gower'

Your favourite beach on The Gower or @Swansea on 14:03 - Mar 4 by acejack3065 | Broughton bay is huge and a lot quieter than Llangennith. Really good for fishing too if you're willing to climb down onto the black rocks just before Blue Pool. Apparently it's a bit of a hotbed for nudists around by Whitford point and the Lighthouse. |
The whole vista of Swansea Bay itself never fails to stir me, particularly from looked at from Townhill.

Used to like Rotherslade when I was a kid. Climb down the steps past that cafe (Ron's Rendezvous?). When we moved to Pennard it had to be Foxhole. Swim off the rocks when the tide was in, and plenty of sand at low tide. And ice creams at Pennard Stores.

We don't. It's "Ukraine", not "the Ukraine", especially as they don't have words for "the" or "a". Is anywhere worth going on the north side that isn't marsh?

Crawley Woods was usually where we went when we were kids and loved Horton as well. As older teenagers, Pobbles for BBQs and parties on the beach in the summer. Now - will never ever tire of the view over Rhossili and the worm or the walk from Bracelet Bay over to Langland across the cliff path (although was better when you could get a Fortes back in the day). And no day is complete without a detour into town or Mumbles on the way back for a Joes. And I was remembering just a couple of weeks ago when we went down to Fairy Hill that we always nagged my Dad to drive back over the bumps - used to try to get him to go fast enough that we would hit our heads on the car roof (which wasn't very fast back in the day - they've evened them out a bit now plus car suspensions now work). All you who still live in Swansea - you're so lucky - I'd give anything to be able to spend all summer down the beach again.
Your favourite beach on The Gower or @Swansea on 17:00 - Mar 4 with 2228 views | Magic_Michu | It's the best place on earth to live... born and bread down in Mumbles walking distance from Langland, Caswell, Pwll Du, Brandy Cove... it doesn't get any better! Last year I was paddleboarding between the Mumbles and a dolphin pod started jumping between me and my wife as the son was going down. I ruddy love Swansea!

Your favourite beach on The Gower or @Swansea on 17:05 - Mar 4 with 2227 views | karnataka | Until I was 5 I lived in Pennard in the early 50s before all the houses were built and a walk with the family across to the castle and down to Three Cliffs was one of my earliest memories and it's still a magical place. Then I lived in Sketty until I was 10 and most of the other beaches people have mentioned figured highly on my favourite trips list particularly Pobbles, Horton & Caswell. Haven't lived in South Wales since 1962 though - proper exile see.
Your favourite beach on The Gower or @Swansea on 17:15 - Mar 4 with 2208 views | WxmJax | Three Cliffs for the views/walk from Southgate car park and Maddocke Tea Room, Rhossili for the walk/views to Worm's Head and Port Eynon for the chippy after walking from Horton.

Somebody who know what they are talking about. Its Gower, saying the "the Gower" is lazy journalism as Brendan once said. As for the best beach, its Pobbles.

oh what a fabulous place to live UJ ! You are very lucky. btw - if you've been living there for 30 years or so, then I can only apologise for the racket we used to make coming back up to the car park late at night after one of our parties :-)
Your favourite beach on The Gower or @Swansea on 18:26 - Mar 4 with 2091 views | Jackanapes | I grew up in Pennard so it has to be Pobbles for me. Summer holidays meant going down Pobbles at 8 am and coming back up at 8pm. Sigh. Then real life happened. I still go there at least once a month even though its no longer a 10 minute walk away.

Your favourite beach on The Gower or @Swansea on 19:50 - Mar 4 with 2026 views | libertine | what about The Gowerjack? you've just reminded me Crawley woods was the best as a child that swing on the way down was awesome the lagoon was always lovely and warm that sand dune just by the lagoon. I once owned a ford capri and decided to camp out on crawley woods so we waited until 9 oclock and there was no one on the beach so I drove my capri all the way across oxwich all the way down to the big dune in crawley beach, parked it on the sand bank set up the tent and had a few, alsolutely great night was had by all its was solid black down there no moon in the sky. and then at some time in the darkness discovered that my feet where wet and the tide was coming in, oh Christ jumped out of the tent and discovered the tide was coming in on the back wheel of the car, absolute panic ensued and eventually we jammed some cardboard down the back wheel and off the car went. I did take of photograph of the moment but sadly it came out black, what a memory

No one has mentioned Whiteford or Slade so far, if it's one of these....you wont let on anyway GJ. As was mentioned ( with some beautiful pictures) earlier by Lifey, Three Cliffs takes some beating for me, and also holds some wonderful happy memories. Gower is certainly a magical place to be.
