Everton About To Bid For Saints Defender
Friday, 8th Jul 2022 12:06

Everton are newly minted after getting £60 million or so from Tottenham Hotspur, despite record losses, they seemed determined to spend it and the latest on their list is one of Southampton's star defenders.

According to the latest reports from Merseyside Everton are preparing a move for Southampton right-back Kyle Walker-Peters.

However the foundations of the rumours have to be questioned when the author states that Everton expect to pay between £10-15 million for his services.

That is a total joke of a price considering that when Saints signed him two years ago from Spurs they paid £12 million for a player who apart from 10 games on loan with Saints in the Premier League had played only a dozen for Spurs in the same competition.

Since then KWP has had two full seasons at St Mary's, both of which he has excelled and has also won two England caps.

This would put his value at a minimum in the £20 -25 million bracket, perhaps more given he still has 3 years left on his current contract.

This rumour seems to be put together more out of hope than any substance, with the author claiming that his days at St Mary's are numbered because of the emergence of Tino Livramento, that of course wasn't the case last season, the author has also suggested we are already seeking a replacement and has put two and two together and made Five and of course with Livramento out until the new year with injury, we are hardly likely to want to sell now.

Everton may well harbour ambitions of signing Kyle Walker Peters, but I don't think they have much hope.

Just ain’t gonna happen.
As firstly they won’t even get him with what they’re supposedly offering (and even then could quite easily be the usual medias BS!) as the club will never sell him for that low of a price, and would want at least like £25-30mill for him.
And seeing how they’ve been utter sh*te in recent years, it’s not like KWP will be too desperate to go there, and with him having another 3 years left on his contract, it’s not like we need to worry about him leaving for free any time soon.

So unless this is the usual medias BS, then whoever came up with this at Everton, surely ain’t the brightest, and is probably why they’ve done soo poor with signings in recent years.

He is mates with Dele Alli and they were seen together at Thorpe Park recently. That's all a would-be reporter needs, these days !!

I wouldn't be surprised if he was sold for a high fee. The way Saints do business is to buy cheap and to sell when their stock is high. Maybe the reason we are in for even more full backs. The fee has to be right first though, and I'm sure KWP wouldn't go for anything less than £30m.

Keep KWP & let Livramento go! This would be really bad business for Saints. Our best full back last season by far - even playing out of position on left!!

Clearly KWP ( and JWP ) are the most saleable players at the club, and they both deserve to be playing at a higher level and not just helping us to Prem. survival.
Getting places in the World Cup Squad will do them no harm even if they don't get starting places every game, they will draw " big club" attention.

They may not go immediately but whilst Saints are buying young talents for the future clearly we might bank close to £100 million if they were both to leave whilst their stock is high.
That prospect may upset a lot of fans but having lost the likes of Mane and VvD in the past there seems to be an air of inevitability about such rumours.

Everton may still have problems over previous transfers affecting their economy and they seem to buy players who no-one eller wants. IF they think that KWP s pal Deli Alli might persuade him to move is a long shot.
Not sure that Everton have recovered from their close call with the drop zone last season.
IF he were to move a return to London would be best.bet.
