Huddersfield 4 Blackpool 2 Saturday, 18th Oct 2014 17:14 by Editor In years to come when Blackpool fans are talking about the worst full match debut they've ever seen a Seasiders player make, then sadly for Joel Dielna his name will undoubtedly crop up. Let's not put all the blame on the youngster because there weren't many around him who covered themselves in glory in the opening half an hour at Huddersfield, but it appears he was first in Jose Riga's firing line. After all the hope, optimism and positivity after the Cardiff win what Blackpool needed was to string a few performances and results together to lift them out of the bottom three. What Saturday's performance showed was that we're a long way from getting out of the woods and all it takes is a few injuries to key players and we're right back where we started. It was interesting that Riga played David Perkins, who at one point this morning had been declared unavailable - and maybe it would have been best if it had remained that way - whilst most thought that Jeffrey Rentmeister's place alongside Donervon Daniels had been cemented after the Cardiff game but Peter Clarke made his way back in to the side. The on-loan Wigan Athletic striker Grant Holt (just the sort of player we arguably need) with his first goal for the club saw Blackpool on the back foot before Harry Bunn netted twice. However, fair play to Blackpool who took Dielna off and rearranged the defence and at the other end goals from McMahon and Donervan appeared to get them back in it. As is often the case though this season a missed chance at one end from Miller saw Butterfield make sure of the three points at the other end. If anything this was the game out of the four before the next international break that fans would have been hoping would see us put more points on the board, instead the toughest of tests against Derby now awaits the Seasiders on Tuesday and there's yet more sorting out needs done before we welcome Steve McLaren's side.
