| Forum Reply | QPR v Ride A White Swansea Match Thread at 20:50 26 Dec 2024
I think next game at Norwich will tell us a lot. These last two away displays against Brizzle City and Swansea have been utterly awful, whether it's a personnel thing, a tactical thing, or combination of both. It's one thing to cede possession and make do with ~30% of the ball, but attempting to become a counter-attacking team relying on the wing pair of Smyth and Saito to provide all of the transitional pace clearly isn't working when you look at the dearth of times we've troubled defences. Not sure what the way forward is, and I have a bad feeling about the games ahead without either Cook or Morrison to steady the ship. |

Spot on, sdm. Had a teacher once go on about how he edited Hitler's page to say he was the Devil's stepson. Apparently it stayed on for weeks before someone edited it back. And that's a high-traffic page subject to regular vandalism, you'd imagine. Got to feel for the volunteers who do everything on Wikipedia. Real labour of love, used by millions, great resource, etc... but always comes with kids messing around or, in this case, over-eager QPR fans perhaps trying to wish a new signing into existence. |

Can't believe we're all forgetting about R's legend Modibo Maiga. That man scored a magnificent three-yard piledriver on his debut. Expecting a statue announcement any day now. |

Bromley boast Mitchel Bergkamp (son of some Dutchman or other) and former Ranger Cole Kpekawa among their ranks. Don't remember much about Kpekawa to be honest, but apparently played for us six times total in the league and once in the Prem after coming through. |

Not at all comparable to Phildo's major surgery, but I watched from the USA after pulling my hamstring quite late in a race that I'd been looking forward to all year. Walked back to my house seven miles into a ten-miler, rang my dad, and got to talking about the upcoming game by way of diversion. We specifically discussed Dykes and his lack of goals recently, so for him to get the winner and us to win a few hours later has turned the day right round. You best believe I hopped around in glee when "Hi Ho Silver" started playing. Enjoy tonight, everyone! |

Bamford has a few blatant ones that instantly come to mind, too. There was the thing against Aston Villa where he dived to get Anwar El-Ghazi sent off in the melee after Leeds had cheated (when Bielsa acknowledged it and let them score). There was the dive against us that got Begovic sent off. There was the handball against Rotherham. Probably forgetting a few. |

Maybe one detraction is Diangana getting past him a bit easily to score WBA's second. Still had a brilliant game like so many others out there, though. |

Hasn't done himself any favours with the Chelsea links. A few dodgy passes and errors here and there, but an experienced pro. He inspires more confidence in me than Dieng did towards the end of his time here. |

Does Andre Gray fit into that too with the whole Covid debacle? |

Wasn't there a headline just last week about how much Mr. Toney wanted to repay Brentford after they stuck with him? Clearly he and his agent saw that and arranged this as quickly as possible to keep the whispers about a move going! |

I'd love to be proved wrong... but as Clive mentioned this lot now have to put together as many wins over the next 19 games as they've managed in the past 60 (essentially half of said games). Yes, we were unlucky today, but the reality that we can lose when playing that competently means that even if we stumble onto miraculous consistency in terms of pure performance things are still quite bleak. |

It's now 9 wins in the last 60 all comps, including 37 losses I believe. It feels to me retrospectively like we were living on borrowed time after fluking out of trouble last spring. I really don't see us turning it around anymore (I had felt some degree of hope). |

Hello everyone. Lurker of a few years here, massive fan of Clive's writing and the board as someone who's been living abroad for a long old time with few people to chat about QPR to who don't shake their heads and look bemused afterwards. The last time I was able to make my way to Loftus Road was New Year's Day four years ago now for that brilliant 6-1 (ironically against Cardiff, who we lost to on New Year's this year). Things have certainly fallen off of the rails since then as I tune in every weekend on QPR+, but we must keep memories of happier times to root out this losing culture threatening to take things to new lows. I also think it's important to stay unified and civil as a fanbase through declining results and very possible relegation. Maybe we have different ideas about what needs to happen first to change things, but places like this virtual one to commiserate, vent, remember happier times as an escape, and keep the flame of hope burning will ensure that QPR won't become a complete scourge on all of our lives. To all in attendance in W12 every week: I hope to join all of you soon, through thick or thin. |

Had a quick look, it seems the attendance figure was the highest it's been since Fulham on 2 Apr 2022 (only 19 months but four permanent managers ago). [Post edited 12 Nov 2023 14:15]

He did a nice outside-foot, around-the-corner pass to Smyth on the right in the first half. Not saying that he was outstanding, but he's certainly played worse in the past... although that says more about his past performances than anything he did today. 38 touches and 23/29 passes completed (across 90 minutes, quite a bit less than Colback and Field) according to SofaScore isn't quite Gazball levels of an anonymous midfield, but considering he doesn't do that much defensively it does make you wonder exactly what his role is supposed to be. |

Happy to fly the flag for the youngsters (though I'll be 21 next birthday and am already discovering grey hairs to my chagrin). Hopefully more of my generation withdraws from the Twitter brigade-- it's never been for me, that. |

I think Antti meant Travelman rather than Sinclair, as in what exactly Travelman had going for him that encouraged so many managers to give him a chance that we never saw in games. He's been picked up by Finnish champions HJK, I noticed, and is now playing in Europe. Bizarre. |

For people who saw both: was it worse than the 7-1 at the Hawthorns under McLaren? I was fortunate enough to miss that one, although not last night. |
