Hides from the ball🙃, explain how you can have 19 touches on 95 mins without hiding from the ball? I’m not saying he’s not good defensively, interceptions, tackles yeah he’s good but in terms of on the ball, playing football . Our best performances have come with Varane x Morgan. They compliment each other way better, especially at home. |

Yes defensively ok. Silly foul for the goal. But still how are you touching the ball 19 times in 95 minutes. I’ll tell you how. Hiding from the ball. You need players who want to get on the ball or your going to get teams dominate you like today. |

Two goals on Wednesday. Defensively he’s good but depends what you want from your midfield I suppose. Sit back and get dominated or actually play football🫢 but because he cleared off the line I suppose MOM😂. 19 touches and 4 passes in 95 minutes. Varane had 45 + touches. |

Can’t be playing field and varane together, just doesn’t work. Varane was excellent , field on the other hand. 😳 19 touches in 95 minutes of football in the centre of the park. And 4 passes all game. Jesus. The two goals in the week covered up another poor performance on the ball. The midfield always gets dominated . Need to go back to Varane x Morgan. Atleast Morgan can pass and he gets us up the pitch! Good point though. |

What a win! Norwich looked lost for ideas with our high pressing which worked well again.
Happy for Kolli who took his chances well despite questionable keeping for the second🤣 he looked sharp when he came on.
Midfield we was solid with Morgan and varane and won the midfield battle comfortably. Varne started off shaky trying a maradona in his own half that nearly cost us a goal but he was solid after that. Morgan worked tirelessly and again a good performance, lost the ball a couple times but his passing is brave and forwards. Not surprised to see the stats that he covered the most ground comfortably again, he is KEY to this high press. Only worry again was madsens lack of involvement. Just 18 touches all match and clear marti saw him ineffective again.
Defensively we was solid, Dunne having sainz in his pocket all match and cook and Morrison solid as ever. A massive win and have to take that into Wednesday and pick up 3 more points!
Will be the same side I think just Madsen out and field back in for the match against Oxford. |

Great performance I thought, and on any other given day we win that comfortably if we take our chances. There were good stages in the game that we dominated but yet didn’t put the ball away. The changes to the team were quite clever I thought from marti. Paal back into a natural left back role for him, although he was poor. And the change in midfield , varane out and Morgan in worked as well. The plan for that was clearly to use Morgan’s fresh legs and workrate to get tight and press on sissoko, their highest calibre player and given the time and space would have effected the game but the press was constant and worked.
Some absolute sitters that just need to be taken if we’re to get more wins. Onto the game next week against Norwich on Saturday and I’m feeling fairly confident after that performance. They score a lot but also ship a lot. I think the team will be the same , just the only change , varane coming in for field and having Varane and Morgan sitting centrally with Madsen just in front. Should hopefully see a midfield performance at home similar to the one against Sunderland where they were all great. |

Madsen I thought had one of his better games for sure. Definitely good signs to come just needs to settle. The performance was a positive, just need a ounce of luck and the draws will turn into wins. In regards to Morgan, he was brought on as a “10” to try and create something but also his energy, and pressing, no one else does that or covers the distance he does. Wasn’t his best game for sure but we have to remember he’s just 18 and he’s a holding midfielder not a 10. Look at Sunderland at home, Morgan and Varane had over 70/80 touches of the ball each and completely dominated Jobe and Co. That’s the partnership from a footballing perspective,a defensive and strong player in Varane who’s improved loads lately and then Morgan from what I’ve seen in the holding midfield area is up there with one of the best passers on the team when playing in his natural position.As someone said earlier , field only had 30 odd touches (hiding) never gonna dominate games with them stats, look at the stoke holding midfielder, over 90!. We will be fine, hopefully 3 points on Wednesday. |
