I would wholeheartedly endorse The Lives of Others as mentioned by Fearless. Probably the best film I have seen in years. It is the sort that will stay with you long after seeing it. It is a German film with subtitles, and is impeccably written, acted and as you wanted something cerebral you won't be disappointed. |

Do you have Eurosport on sky 410? The coverage makes sure it takes its ad-breaks long before the excitement happens. One thing though, unless you have HD the picture isn't as good (on my tv anyway) |

What amazes me about football intelligence is that a lot of footballers that DO possess it are so dim off the pitch that they struggle to formulate a coherent sentence. For example... Wayne Rooney, a guy with an exquisite football brain, yet will respond to the slightest stimulus by regressing to a troglodyte. You can almost see the hamster going round the wheel when interviewed, realising that without his expletives his vocabulary only encompasses 17 words and 23 footballing cliches. And even more baffling, the footballing genius Paul Gascoigne. There's a guy who possessed almost divine gifts, vision and the ability to spot a perfect pass, yet can only be trusted with rounded scissors. |

I'll preface my contribution with the realisation this is purely an unbiased view from an outsider, who is a genuine football fan, and really enjoys this forum. I also appreciate this isn't really any of my business and I have no in depth knowledge about his team selections etc so won't attempt to comment on those. However, two things. Firstly, a common thread running through a lot of posts is the desire for young, hungry players who will die for the shirt. I can't stand the greedy, mercenary side of football, and a part of me wonders if HR hasn't been portrayed as tainted by that at previous clubs. Secondly, I have a great deal of time and respect for TF. He will stick with a man, whether he be the right one for the job, and rightfully give him time. So HR will get a chance to turn it all round. I hope he gets rid of the mercenaries and the poisonous element (Barton) and gets some character in. You could do worse than making a bid for Simeon Jackson from us. A thoroughly decent professional, great attitude and desire, pace to burn and his goals (I think 9 in the last 7) got us promoted with you boys. Anyway, good luck for next season. |

I know, it is a race for mediocrity. I found an old book of football stickers from the mid-1970's when moving house recently. The league tables (with only a handful of exceptions) showed that the vast majority of teams were in the same division as now, or had been up and down a division or so. The fact is Norwich will probably always be a top half of the championship, bottom of the Prem sort of side. Only a massive benefactor could see a move upward, or a complete mismanagement (as 2008) a move downward. Up until then it's just a matter of time before we go down for a few years, then up for a couple etc. But I can honestly say I enjoyed coming from a goal down to Walsall to win 2-1 in 2010 far more than getting a draw at home to Fulham. |

I think he is in for the long haul too. And whilst you say he made a mistake in giving MH an open cheque book, at least he was prepared to back him. When my son used to get in trouble at school, due to a particular teacher being a tw@t, I used to tell him he had to respect his position, and not the teacher (who was a tw@t). MH is a tw@t, but TF was backing the position. |

Firstly, I genuinely am sorry to see you boys go down, and don't feel any of the schadenfreude that some other morons seem to delight in. Besides, the way my team are playing at the moment there is still a good chance of my making my annual visit to Loftus Rd next season. I just wanted to share a few observations about your chairman. Having seen him on tv today, I thought he showed what a thoroughly decent bloke he seems to be. He looked utterly bereft at the final whistle, and I don't think that was to do with the financial disappointment of relegation, but it seemed to me he felt the pain of a fan. I noted he still had the decency to raise a smile and shake the hand that was offered to him. I must admit when he joined you I was sceptical about his motives, yet I now believe I was totally wrong. I have read some threads on here that says he has made mistakes, and whilst that may or not be true, any mistakes have undoubtedly been honest ones. Some criticism has been levelled at him for engaging in twitter too much, yet surely that is a massive positive? To interact with fans shows he is trying to understand their views. Also, I think the fact he has backed the judgment of his managers is laudable. Regardless of the merits of choosing the right manager, he has given them all his full backing. I know there is a general consensus that MH retained his position too long (at the time he was originally appointed there weren't many outstanding candidates available) yet it was evident TF wanted some sort of stability and gave him as long as he could. When Delia appointed Glenn Roeder who nearly destroyed Norwich a few years back, she and the board backed his judgment. It was staggeringly the wrong appointment, but they made the appointment in good faith, backed him, didn't interfere, and got shot of him when it was clear it wouldn't ever work out. Give me a chairman with that ethos any day over a Russian Oligarch. Anyway, I wish you all the best for next season. I have read a lot of fans on here who don't like the Prem as much as the championship and I agree wholeheartedly. I hate scratching around hoping to get enough draws to stay up, and celebrating a home draw against a top six club as if we've won a trophy. |

Actually despite the score we weren't bad that day. After 70 mins we were 2-1 down and had hit the post. Then they went mad and it could've been ten. Away from home we parked the bus and went 1-0 down before half time. Then foolishly ventured into their half and got stuffed also. Having said that, Bolton are by far the worst team we played and I think and hope they get stuffed today. Only them and chelski failed to breach our defence this season, they're that bad. Appreciate though that anything can happen today, no point in guessing, just try and get through it and hope you're all celebrating later! |

...of good luck to you boys today. I can imagine how hard it has been these past few weeks, ups and downs, hope and despair etc. It's what football is all about and why we love and hate it. You deserve to stay up and I will be standing at Carrow Road hoping that you (or Stoke) do the job today. Come on you Hoops! |

I wonder how long it will be before some wag of a journalist tries to get him to talk about England's world Ranking? |

As you mentioned Justin Fashanu, can I just offer this story. I'm now 43, but when I was about 10 or 11 years old my dad used to work with a bloke who was a bouncer at weekends in the club/restaurant where the Norwich team used to go after games. Anyway, he said that if I gave him my autograph book he'd go round the tables and get their autographs. Anyway, when Justin Fashanu signed it, he decided to go around the other team's tables as well. He then said if I left it with him, he'd do that after every game. Every week he took along my autograph book and at the end of the season I had all the autographs from the famous Liverpool and Forest teams of the late 70's, including a great message from Cloughie etc. A lovely gesture from a kind man. |

To be honest if we hadn't parked the bus for the first half up there and kept them down to a paltry 5 it could have been embarrassing... |

You can thank Norwich for that. We only let in 11 v Man City in 3 hours. Hope it helps. |

Apparently the Stoke fans were booing Ramsey because at the time Shawcross made numerous attempts to contact him to apologise etc but Ramsey kept snubbing him. Seem to remember Shawcross being visibly distressed at the time (as was Ramsey!) and I think the fans were booing that. Still dickish though. As for Justice for Ched, I think that's been done, and seen to be done. |

Yes that would be fun. Though not as satisfying as an interviewer losing the plot with an arrogant smartarse manager, who ridicules perfectly reasonable questions and intimidates the poor sod who's only trying to ask questions on behalf of the fans etc. Yes I'd love to see someone punch Dalglish's lights out. |
| Forum Reply | Blackburn at 00:37 30 Apr 2012
Yes you're right. He has no other option I suppose. Though one gets the feeling he doesn't believe his positivity, in the way for instance Martinez has done all season. Having said that, the sort of crap he's had to put up with this season is utterly abhorrent. I watched Norwich get totally outplayed up there last week, and despite playing us off the park there was a large section of Blackburn fans singing "Kean's sending us down, Kean's sending us down, The F*#%ing w*#%er, he's sending us down". |
| Forum Reply | Blackburn at 00:17 30 Apr 2012
I seem to remember they nearly did that at Man City too until some stupid bastard had a shot after 88 minutes or something. Steve Kean will still be gibbering on about being confident of staying up when he needs to get 7 points from the last 1 game. |

Do I remember there being some bad blood between MH and Tony Pulis when Hughes managed Fulham? Didn't one refuse to shake hands or something? Should be a feisty affair. I really hope you boys get the result you need. And I know everyone's guessing predictions etc, but for what it's worth 3 more points and a better goal difference may well be enough. Can't see Bolton getting anything from Spurs, and 4 points from 2 games is a big ask. Keep the faith, and hopefully I can come and listen to some anti-NCFC abuse at Loftus road again next season! |

Absloutely ridiculous. Talk about heavy handed. Perhaps it was an attempt to deflect attention from the official launch video. Last year's one was humorous, self-deprecating, and got hundreds of thousands of Internet hits. This year, we obviously thought it would go the same way. Alas, some bright spark thought it would be good to have the players talk, and get Stephen Fry involved, presumably to publicise it via twitter. It's awful. |

Actually, I do not have seven fingers. I have just the usual five, plus my thumb. Anyway, I would have to take Andre Marriner off your list of competent officials, as he is truly inept. |
