Tuned into ifollow, there’s a sprinkling of the faithful already in place and they're looking like they’re frozen stiff, as they watch the warm up. Always a tricky one, do you keep your gloves on, or risk frostbite by taking them off so you can clap the lads? |

BBC has the formation listed as 4-2-2-2 FFS I don't think there can be anything else in life that is as simple as football, yet people go to such extremes to make it complicated. I know old people are told not to go out in bad weather, but where is our captain? |

Can’t be there today, but Grimsby is one of my favorite grounds. The ground is shite, the view is shite, Cleethorpes is a horror show, it’s always cold, their mascot does really look like he should be subject to a court order and it’s on the edge of nowhere, but ………. ……. the away supporters bar under the stand is a thing of beauty, with all the scarves etc. It’s also shite, but in a lovely way. They didn’t have to put it there, but they did, because they care. Top marks to a proper football club. |

Disappointing yes, depressing? Not for me. For me, he’s spot on with the belonging. I always feel like I’m with family, especially at away games. Sometimes seems like the Adam’s Family, but it’s my family none the less. It’s not like we got to choose the U’s, it chose us and the glory hunters crying when ‘their’ team lose will never understand the feeling at Huish Park. There are lots of things happening in the world that are depressing, but football isn’t one of them. [Post edited 22 Nov 12:44]

A Bar Assistant? It all makes sense now, maybe he is innocent? I can just imagine his adoptive father clicking his fingers and shouting “Jeremy can we have a round of shots over here”! |

Accepting that Lyle probably hurdled the defender and hence no contact, but because matey didn’t get the ball, David Gregory was adamant that it should have been a pen because he impeded Lyle by making him jump out of the way lto avoid a broken ankle, thereby impeding him from being able to continue with play. VAR would have spent all night looking at that! [Post edited 16 Nov 18:51]

More wisdom from David Gregory….. It was a goal scoring chance so it should have been either a penalty and a yellow or a free kick out side and a red card. Ref bottled it. |

Disappointed that S1 haven't broken into song........ "Flanagan's on....... and you still can't score Flanagan's on....... and you still can't score" |

According to David Gregory, it came off of his thigh and apparently the rule now is that it's only a back pass if it's hit with a foot. |

Careful Manny, if you keep doing that DC will have to give you a start. |

I can't see the rest of the Prem losing too much sleep over Arsenals future. |
| Forum Reply | Historical League Tables at 12:56 12 Nov 2024
I think the Prem started in 92-93 with 22 clubs, but in 95-96 it reduced to 20. Before the Prem there were normally 22 clubs in Division One, but that varied over the years. North/south would make sense with todays traffic (not to mention environmental reasons), especially with the 12:30 kick-offs, although previous managers had to take teams to Plymouth, Swansea etc. which aren't exactly local. Add in Cardiff, Exeter, and the Bristols, and it probably doesn't make much difference to Colchester. |

The away game at Grimsby is at 12:30 and now Fleetwood away has also been changed to 12:30. Nothing like kicking our fans when they are down. |

In fairness to Mr Bassey, he left Pompey long before 'Mr Meccano Foot' had his nasty injury. |

The big payroll is a necessity to maintain Cat 2 status for the academy, but in fairness, it is partly funded by the Prem and by the sale of its products. Unfortunately the young players, that are good enough, are thin on the ground and sold far too early and therefore the whole set up hasn’t had the desired effect at the moment and it is clearly more of a distraction than an asset. Whilst I am annoyed at DC having a second job while he’s not doing too spectacularly at his main one, I still feel that our sell, sell, sell policy has meant that he hasn’t had a fair chance and the club has missed what could be its final chance to turn its fortunes around. Because of the secrecy that surrounds the club, we will never know just how big his budget has been over the summer, but I would guess it’s a fraction of the money that has come in. With regard to the large number of staff, there have long been suspicions that its a case of too many cook... and it has been suggested some senior backroom staff may have a little too much say in the way the club operates. Whatever the facts, it is a mess and I can well imagine that DC/NC wish they'd gone to Bradford. [Post edited 11 Nov 15:42]
