I think Sintz says the same thing on commentary - he’d want to play every game he could but wasn’t so bothered with training in a busy week. Paul McGrath’s approach probably wouldn’t work anymore but bloody hell, he could outperform most without any training at all apparently. And then there are those that clearly benefit from intensive training and coaching massively. Takes all sorts. On the bench or not, seems to raise more controversy and difficult questions than any other form of selection sometimes. |

It’s one of those power ups - if you can find him and sell him, then he’s worth €10M in your transfer budget. Just don’t play him before selling. |

Thanks Bosh - he certainly seems to know where the goal is and how to find it. I wonder if he was scouted by a human ? |

Yeah, I can just imagine Nourry saying no to promotion… We’ve got a way to go to that hypothetical and don’t forget we just lost 6:2 to Leicester who are adrift with the Scummers. Now, a playoff run would help soften the Cup failings and put a decent amount of money away, not least from the showcasing of some players. 6th place would be a realistic goal to give us that opportunity and the next batch of games look like we could gain some points on those above us if we hold our own. Let’s face it, that would be more massive than West Ham - for us…. |

Totally agree, not fully match fit on, probably won’t be tomorrow. Maybe he’s carrying something still, which makes him more likely to make dangerous late tackles and gob off if he’s in pain. I’d start Morgan but give them 45 each depending on where we are at half time. |

Xavi, players are overlooked for a variety of biased reasons and perceived flaws: Age, appearances, personality, tekkers, ugly girlfriends, poor car choices, bad fashion choices like fur coats, stone selection & green bikini, Anita Dobson haircuts etc. However, of the all the players for us to select, I believe that we now have a championship play-off team squad of footballers that we can chose from - IF - we play them in my 4-3-3 formation. Because everyone else in the championship plays another system and therefore under values them or plays them the wrong way – look at Chrissy Willock and Flex Armstrong. What do you mean, Marti ? Well, look at Smythy for example. When he plays with Jimmy and Kieron on the right, there’s a very different player there – brimming with confidence and occasionally scoring, albeit from the halfway line. Michi (check Tatt for spelling) gets goals because other players apparently know where he is running to and pass/cross accordingly. Rayan looks more and more instinctive as a finisher because we’ve got him anticipating the play and following up. Our old destroyer, Fieldy, is now a box to box player creating his own chances and we found a gem in Kieron from the YTS group that was cutting the grass on Shepherds Bush green with scissors. Ronnie Edwards can actually play and looks much better when I select him in the correct position, ideally between two experienced centre backs. We’ve got two cheese eating surrender monkeys that now fight, stop goals and prevent attacks and Harold Lloyd’s brother who is so unpredictable, not even he knows what could happen next. Crikey, we can even beat the first man at corners and aren’t really reliant on Illy anymore, FFS ! We are the island of misfit toys – just don’t tell Christian we have changed his game model and adopted Martiball. He’s busy hiding all the contracts, fan groups and looking at stats so we can get away with it until the summer preseason tour I reckon. |

Comparing the ‘hygiene’ to what we expect at work, you can forgive people for not being the best at their job sometimes but you still expect them to: Be punctual Be polite Listen Take notes Dress accordingly Follow up Etc It’s not asking much but there are a lot of people who don’t do the basics that require very little skill, expertise or knowledge. I guess this is what we sometimes think of as making an effort to at least run around, stick a foot in and don’t give the ball away a which was the subject matter discussed ad infinitum for Mr Daniiiiiiish. |

Whilst it’s clearly helped by the developing patterns of play and some good coaching, part of it must be the natural response to follow up, get to one of the posts, get between the CBs, always be on the front foot etc. Small improvements in the conversion rate and you potentially start scoring 2-3 goals a game and that’s a massive step forwards for us. Refreshing, considering where we were not long ago - because I still haven’t forgotten the Swansea Xmas capitulation. FFS, even Cardiff managed to beat them by the same score….no doubt ‘welshing’ on a bet :-) |

I think he had a good game yesterday but there wasn’t much to worry about compared to other teams and playing next to Dunne and Fox helped him. Let’s see what he can do against a decent attack and press in the coming games. [Post edited 19 Jan 6:56]

It’s a really good run, considering the injuries and the fact in some games we haven’t played well but found a way to still get a result somehow. For me, the turnaround has been enabled by an increase in possession as we switched formation and that’s creating goal opportunities that we didn’t have before. Convert a few more of those each week and who knows what could happen and we may even have a nice selection ‘headache’ shortly if Cook and Morrison come back. When you look up the table, I see teams we have beaten and can hold our own against. Do that and don’t lose the games against the lower placed teams (as we used to) and who knows what will happen. Certainly feels that this is the month to set that in motion. |

I was thinking more like Willock and Chair but Eze and Chair was better. Certainly more durable. |

Agreed and Varane in particular, did very well considering his early card. I figured that he may have been hooked at half time but he clearly knew what he was doing. Remained effective but restrained himself at key moments and in his duels. Mr Colback could learn a few things from him - and no doubt teach him some stuff that’s perhaps not in the manual. |
