I'm not going to jump on the "get Juric out" bandwagon yet. He's having to work with a bunch of players that just aren't good enough & some with bad " don't want to be here" attitudes. There's not a Manager/ Coach on the Planet that could get results with this squad. [Post edited 9 Feb 13:10]

The damage has been done in the previous Transfer Windows. We are where we are because of the clubs failure to bring in the right players in previous Transfer Windows ( & Managers) It's all gone to pot since SR took over. It would achieve nothing spending heavily in this window when we are inevitably going to be playing in Championship next season. SR's track record of buying & selling players ( & Managers) is very poor, until we get new owners we are in a spiralling decline. |

What's happened to our great club. Why haven't we had any great players or anyone that would get into our top ten legends for the last 5 or more years. There is not one player in our current squad that will be regarded as a club legend in the future. Also who was the the last Manager we had that could ever be regarded as a club legend. I can only think of two, Big Lawrie & Ted Bates. You'll probably remind me of a few more. |

Franny would have carried on with 2 broken legs. In those days every team needed a Franny. OK he wouldn't have figured in our top ten legends but in his own right he was a club legend. |

I remember Franny Benali playing half a game with a broken arm, that's commitment. You don't have to be a great player to be a legend. Franny was not only a local lad he was a legend for us. |
![](/images/avatars/0.gif) | Forum Reply | Danny Ings at 12:48 5 Feb 2025
Don't see all the fuss about Danny Ings. If he was that good he would have got regular games at Villa. He also failed to get games at West Ham. He's an overated Journeyman. Just because he was born in Winchester doesn't mean he's interested in playing for Saints. He might get a game for Winchester City. |

How do you define a legend ?. To be legend you don't have to be the best player. Matt Le Tiss is a standout because of his ability & loyalty. Mick Channon & Terry Paine because of their contribution. Franny Benali + Jason Dodd + Nick Holmes were club legends because of their commitment to the club. I think everybody will come up with their own ideas of legends. |

Your comment about Tall Paul being anonymous until he scored. That's typical of most strikers, Haaland can be totally anonymous but scores when given the opportunity. I would bet on Tall Paul given the same number of games as AA has had (note in Premier lge) TP will score at least twice as many goals as AA has contributed. TP also gives the side a different dimension, an outlet to hit long balls to, he can hold a ball up & is deceptively good with his feet. AA would not have scored the 2 goals that TP has recently scored. Yes, we should have kept AA in this transfer window but only because we are now desperately short of strikers. A couple of injuries & we're scuppered. |

My only concern about AA going out on loan is that it leaves us short of strikers. But with AA's poor goalscoring record in Premier lge we ain't going to miss him. Alright he does run around a lot but he just lacks the quality required for this level. |

Good point. What's happened to our once famous Academy. We just don't have any players other than Tyler Dibling breaking into 1st team. Surely we have some that would be worth giving game time to, the Academy is a very expensive overhead & has to produce some that make the 1st team or we can sell on. |

I have never rated AA despite his goals he scored in Championship but him going along with Diaz leaves us desperately short of strikers. |

Downes is sulking since his mate RM left. He knew he was guaranteed a game when RM was in charge. But Ivan Juric is not RM, Ivan demands more commitment from his players. It's very obvious that it was all too cosy for players like Downes & Adam Armstrong when RM was best buddies with them. RM created a lazy mentality at the club. Ivan said that many of our players just were not in good shape (not fit) when he took over. I do like Ivan & would like to see him stay if & when we get relegated. Look at what he's done with players like Onuacho + Sulemana + Bree. None of them were considered good enough by RM or most of us but Ivan has transformed them. I'm not kidding myself because I'm not convinced any of them are Premier lge players but all a Coach can do is make sure he gets them fit & performing to the best of their ability. Good question Grumps. Although TD has shone in our team, that is not too difficult, currently we would make Ali Dia look good. TD is obviously a very gifted footballer but he's far from being the finished article. I don't think he's ready yet to hold down a regular game in any of the top six teams. He needs games to improve certain elements of his game, so if (when) he goes he should choose very carefully to make sure he goes to a club that can guarantee him game time, but it probably won't be his decision, as we all know it's the agents that dictate where players end up. |

KWP was seen doing a lap of the ground applauding the crowd (those that were still there) after the final whistle. OK, KWP has always been appreciative of the support he's had & he's always acknowledged it, but it's unusual for him or any player to do the rounds unless they are leaving the club. We've had lots of speculation surrounding KWP's future at previous transfer windows but it's different this time with his contract running out at the end of the season allowing him to be a free agent. I personally don't rate him, he's very vulnerable as a defender (great going forward) but he's far & away the best wing back at the club. |

Wouldn't say he's been thrown under the bus, he had a choice & decided he wanted the job, so he jumped under the bus. I do think he is an upgrade on RM, but he has such a useless bunch of players to work with he's no chance, it's a thankless task. I think given time & some better players then he could do a good job, unfortunately he's not likely to get either. |

Point taken but, we virtually fill our stadium Which equates to approx 3 x the Bournemouth gate receipts. Surely that gives us a better annual income than them, difference being we just waste ours on rubbish Managers & Players. |

It's amazing that Bournemouth are such a successful club with their financial limitations due to ground capacity. It was only a few years ago that the fans were collecting money in buckets to keep the club afloat. This just proves a point that get the right owners & the right principles running through the club then you can over achieve. They are playing fantastic aggressive football & getting the results that their performances deserve & currently with most of the players out injured. I will add that David Brooks is playing some great stuff for them & last season RM was reluctant to use him & we made no effort to keep him. But it worked in his favour because he's too good to be wasting his time at St Mary's. [Post edited 27 Jan 10:05]
