I can’t believe we are looking at next season! 22 games left, 9 points from safety, history means absolutely nothing.. Sick of this defeatist attitude which has no place in any sporting team unless you are happy to accept failure. We can still bloody stay up! There are at least 3 teams who are worse than us based on our games against them. This isn’t over yet, there isn’t any sign of a fat lady.
Rohl is not the worst idea, he at least has shown he has some qualities with how he has turned Wednesday around. If Potter isn’t interested, I’d go for Rohl. I like how he comes across and that is actually a good indicator for success.
Hjulmand might be good but has no track record in club management to speak of. |

We should offer Potter the money he wants. He has the links with our club and I don’t think we’re definitely down yet. Look at Leicester years ago under Pearson, went from the worst team in the league to second or third best and avoided relegation. They won the league the following year.. I have often disagreed about the club and manager with you Nick but I think your assessment of Martin’s style, his attitude and how it will impact us as a club is spot on. We all have him time after these mistakes cost us automatic promotion last year but to carry on regardless against more punishing opponents has reaped the rewards predicted by you, all the ex player pundits and many more. If he wants to play tippy tappy on the edge of the box then we shouldn’t have any tall clumsy centre backs on the pitch but a load of nimble midfielders, then we won’t be able to defend set pieces.. The problem isn’t having a ball retention style it’s how it’s implemented. At the moment watching us pass from the back is like watching a load of kittens running across a dual carriageway. |

Where is the benefit to his style? Lowest scorers in the league, most goals from mistakes ever and lowest points ever after 15 games. Parsons etc haven’t got a clue and just because you played non league football means nothing in running a Premier League club. Sadly our owners and board are clueless dreamers and we’re stuck with them because of the money they will make year after year selling our best players. Good business model maybe but terrible for sporting success. Is there anyone in the football world who agrees with our idiots in charge? No, just a few fans who live in the past where a magician like McMenemy took us down and back up signing top stars to help us. Those days are gone, can’t see Messi walking through the door out of the blue like Keegan.
If the board moved now and brought in Moyes til the summer, we’d still have a chance of survival. Stick with the selfish bearded ideology nut job and we have a chance of beating Derby’s record, the players losing confidence and then not being at their best losing £10m each in value along the way..
I won’t be travelling to watch us away anymore under Martin, he’s just become an ignorant tosser who doesn’t care about the fans. The board are beginning to follow suit. |

The players looked lost, confused and devoid of confidence. We have no idea of how to attack the oppo’s box unless our two creative players break their lines and that rarely happened yesterday. I didn’t see the point in giving Sulemana 3 mins of added time to do something, utterly pointless. The one throw in we had in the second half right by their corner flag ended up with our goalie when we were a goal down with 10 mins left just about summed up our boring unimaginative tactics and Martin wonders why we had no shots on target. Another game and loss starting with 5 at the back which we know hasn’t worked. What is KWP doing playing left side of centre back with Manning to his left at wing back? This is beginning to turn in to another laughing stock moment in the clubs history with the chiefs stood around watching doing nothing to stop the madness.
I would rather go down with another manager than Martin as I don’t think he realises the flaws in his ideology which will cause problems irrespective of the league he’s in unless he is managing Barcelona or Man Cheaty. |

It’s irrelevant that we kicked it long, it doesn’t account for the following mistake which occurred for the same reason all the others have. And his style and tactics garnered zero shots on target yesterday.
Braved the road trip, trudged around in a gale, got soaked after being turned away at the Wilton and Yew Tree as we were foreigners and then kept outside in an icy wind as the woefully inadequate Villa Park continued our miserable experience. What then followed was as painful to watch as the headache I’ve had all morning so to read Martin’s post match comments today has done for me completely with him. If SR don’t get rid of him tomorrow then it will just confirm that they haven’t got a clue what they’re doing. Ankersen has to go too for allowing this failed tactic to continue |

This is a tough one to call now.. After the Leicester game I was done with Martin because of the naivety and stupidity of our game management which cost us so many points. Although I’d still be happy if we brought in someone more experienced like Potter or Moyes, I have to say we show signs of mixing it with the best. At City I thought we were magnificent at times and yesterday again, made a title challenger look very ordinary. Sadly we gifted them 3 goals and again with the help of a crap VAR cheat, lost the points.
I don’t understand Fraser at left wingback and our best midfielder Downes playing sweeper. McCarthy was like a PlayStation goalie for their second, randomly running out of his box not even in line with the goal. He also should have seen that Fernandes had 2 men up his backside for the first and should have kept the ball for longer. The team are disjointed when the keeper gets the ball, some look to receive the ball quickly but half of them aren’t even looking at what’s going on, which is why we get caught out. Either we all shape up and break out immediately or we tell the keeper to hold. Half the team do one thing and half the other, this is crazy.
Only 1 new starter from last year, Fernandes, all the other new summer signings either benched or not in the squad which suggests our recruitment is farcical with a touch of genius!
I just don’t know if it’s better to rid now or keep Martin, there is much which impresses and entertains but we only have 4 points from 12 games and it’s about results.
Please can we have a ref and VAR who don’t stitch us up Friday please? |

Judging by how pathetic SR have been to date, this probably is true. RM is now deluded, he watched is different game to me on Saturday. I’ve said before, I don’t believe SR care about what division we are in, it’s a business and the moneyball tactics show that this is more important than success on the pitch. Hence we are stuck with this ideologue who won’t adjust to situations and takes a negative approach to playing the bottom of the league. 5 defenders on pitch every game doesn’t suit us and the wrong personnel are selected. Why did we bring in Charlie Taylor and Sugawara and not play them. Why did we bring in Cornet? What has Diaz done? Why bring in big Les? We had NO holding midfielder on Saturday because Charles is on loan at SWed. Sorry for Aribo, he’s just not good enough or doesn’t play at full tilt for the whole game, goes to sleep. Where is Sulemana when defenders are terrified of pace? Why does RM think Fraser is the answer? He’s just an impact sun, why did we loan out Edozie? At least we had some attacking down the left when he played and he scored a few last year before injury. Another victim of our get the ball to their box and pass it back again tactic. Why did we buy Wood and Edwards? All these signings made to make us stronger and RM plays the same players who failed to finish above 4th last year. The recruitment as usual hasn’t fit with the manager.
SR are pathetic, after all who buys a crocked striker for 10 million or whatever and he never gets to fitness. Utterly and completely stupid, naive beyond explanation.. this is what we have to put up with until they sell us in league 1 having made their profits from parachutes and selling our best players for a profit. Ankersen and his ways are outdated and Solak is clueless about football it seems. |

This was actually one of Stephens better games, so poor timing from the captain haters. There shouldn’t be too much to moan about, this looked like and played out like a team desperate for their first win and playing a scrappy physical team would be delighted with a scrappy one nil win. First win and a clean sheet. We’ve had plenty of bad luck this season so were due the rub of the green yesterday. Lovely goal and we looked more of a threat when Dibling came on. People can be negative about Everton and their chances but forget that we hit the woodwork twice at the Emirates and were stitched in that game with an offside goal and against Leicester when Onuachu had his shirt stolen.. We played well at City and deserved the points yesterday, on to Wolves next week. Martin has a stay of execution. |

I get the humour although I think Martin is very happy to see us shooting from outside the box if it opens up, I could be wrong and maybe he has alluded to not liking efforts from distance. I think having a throw in near the oppo box and it ending up with our centre backs in our own half is my bugbear.

Don’t really care about sources and tbrnews etc, we have 1 point from 9 games, basically a quarter of the season gone. I don’t really care either what the results are in terms of whether Martin stays or not, if there is someone better out there, make the change! This is multi million pound business and the top level of the biggest sport in the world. It is not a charity and has no place for sentiment and loyalty if the optimum outcome is seeker, that’s just how the game is. As mentioned we did this with Adkins and as sad as it was, look where it got us by putting someone better in charge. I don’t feel sorry for any sportsmen who earn that much money anyway. But we don’t have the rudeboy Cortese anymore, some other clowns who will do whatever is needed too late.
Agree that Martin might do better at a top club where he’d have the players to suit, as with Kompany but Kompany was seriously dominant in the Championship, didn’t finish 4th |

Also I think SaintMark1976 has a point. I’m not too sure the owners are that ambitious about the club being in the Prem. This is about finances and the Moneyball thing or whatever it’s called is about maximising every penny from player not investing to try to achieve silverware or compete at higher levels. Taylor the referee was awful, it is clear that the game is full of corruption as nobody can be that incompetent to ignore a five second shirt pull at one end then give one a few minutes later at the other end. Taylor was determined that we would not win. He is a cheat.
That said, he shouldn’t have been given the chance to ruin us as he did. To bring on Fraser to replace Sugawara to mark Fatawu was absolute madness. Gateau left Fraser for dead for the first goal, as did many Championship players last season. He did a good job last year but was only ever an impact sub in that league so why we brought him in for a Premier season is beyond me. He showed last year he has no idea how to defend and this substitution snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Why not bring on a proper left back then rather than waiting til 78th minute when it was too late? To go from having a solid enough defence and removing the one man with pace from the left just handed the initiative to Fatawu. This game was absolute madness. And Martin says this wasn’t Lallana’s strength? What!!? We desperately needed him to come on and control the midfield. As usual, we got a good half from Aribo then he wanted too much time second half and kept losing the ball.
Martin should have gone two weeks ago but we have a board who are devoid of any clue of how to make decisions, this is why we were relegated in the first place 2 years ago. Ankersen is a joker, no idea what he is doing, hence 1 point from 9 games. We need new owners if we ever want to see stability or success. Martin has to go this week but we all know that he won’t. |

I’m a big fan of Shea and was pretty surprised when I heard he was going on loan to Wednesday. The game he really came of age was the league match at the Hawthorns. We won 2-0 because he dominated the middle of the park with strength and grace. I would not be at all surprised if we brought him back in Jan. Not sure atm why we bought Wood and Edwards when Shea could have been back up in CD too. He definitely has a big future and I hope we keep him long term. |

I wasn’t at the game but it sounds like the same story from previous matches. There are so many positives with our style of play and success is possible and a mid table finish. But there are a couple of aspects about our style which is killing us. If those are tweaked then we could be a really good team but at the moment so much hard work and quality is undone in a second because of the stubbornness of the manager, not allowing his players to do what Rice did and find row Z. If Guardiola and Arteta understand this, why is our manager trying to outdo the best before he’s even won a game? And it isn’t difficult for opponents to work us out so Martin simply has to tweak and vary things or we won’t win a game. It’s almost becoming madness.. Shame as he has the potential to be an amazing manager when you look at the strengths. |

We lost to Newcastle, Forest and Bournemouth for the same reason.. I didn’t see the Brentford game but that reason is the lack of focal point to our attack with no central striker. How he managed to decide this was the right way at Bournemouth is beyond me. He can say how unhappy he is being written off after 6 games but whose fault is that? How bad do your decisions have to be for everyone to say this. I have been a big defender of Martin but his stubbornness and unwillingness to learn has been his downfall to date.
