1972-73 - Stan Bowles interview and match report - LBC Radio
at 10:40 31 Aug 2023

Hi everyone,

I thought that you might enjoy this short video that I've just uploaded to the retroQPR YouTube channel.

It's an LBC radio report from February 1973 following our 5-0 win over Swindon Town in a Second Division match.

Stan Bowles had scored his first hat-trick for us earlier that afternoon and was interviewed by legendary journalist and broadcaster Norman De Mesquita after the game.

This clip also features a match report from LBC reporter and R's fan Michael Wale.

I've had this audio for a while so I'm glad to finally get it to to a wider audience and hear Stan on such great form on and off the pitch.

I hope you enjoy it.

Many thanks

Chris

Harrow Boro v QPR X1
at 23:54 18 Jul 2021

Tickets are still available for this match from the link above.
This may be a chance for many of us to see a lot of the Under 23 squad in the flesh for the first time.

There may even be a contingent of first team players getting a run out following the Gillingham postponement.

Either way it should be a good night, there have always been strong links between the two clubs, our 1995-96 Football Combination Championship winning side played their home fixtures at Earlsmead

Among the players to have played for both sides are Albert Adomah, Ian Stewart and Gavin Maguire.
Micky Tomkys arguably the most successful managers in the history of Harrow Borough played for Rangers between 1951 and 1959.

Our last visit to Earlsmead was almost ten years ago to the day - a 1-0 win on 15/7/2011

New retroQPR Blog
at 16:31 28 Jun 2019

Hi everyone, you may have seen my retroQPR account on Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and also the Facebook group (which you are all welcome to join).

I have now launched a blog in which I hope to include articles and interviews featuring the players, managers and fans that make our club so special.

I am delighted to say that Gordon Macey, lifelong R's fan and the club's historian for the last 25 plus years has agreed to be the first interviewee for the blog.

I hope you enjoy reading Gordon's memories, feel free to contact me with any suggestions you have for future blog posts.
