| Forum Reply | Should we boycott the World Cup at 17:25 29 May 2015
It's not just FIFA though. UEFA with their Champions League have made club leagues uneven and The Premier League are just a money making scheme. They put money ahead of everything and have even killed it off as a competition with ladder payments guaranteeing only one or two clubs can win the league each season. That's not sport. It's just money generating for a few monopoly organisations formerly known as football clubs. |

Anyone else get the feeling we are witnessing the end of football as a professional sport? Greed has killed it at the top end. Prefer the sport just as a sport. |

I am not talking about 1+1. We've seen 3 month contracts appearing since then. |

SATW - if you were the (unpopular) owner, and it was your club, your money, and you had other business interests, would you see it as an ideal time to spend money on it or wait a while for the toxic times to subside before re-investing (granted, not massive amounts at the best of times)? The protests started about 18 months ago and all the short term deals for dross players since support my view that they have adjusted the budget in line with the current business conditions. |

If they've held onto it for nearly 30 years and been through similar rough times before (marches to their house, people on the pitch... last time with a coffin), but didn't sell then... and that was with a derelict ground and debts, what makes you think they would sell now with a completed stadium, revenues from facilities built into it and £30 Million tucked away? I am not so confident they ever will sell it. |

4 out of 5 are left-footers. Not sure about Matt Phillips on that list ahead of Ian Evatt, Stephen Crainey and DJ. |

It's the absence of hope regarding any possibility that the O's will sell that causes people to look for different ways of improving things. If someone won't sell, never has sold in the past when the club was in an even worse state than today (derelict ground and no money in the holding companies), and will probably still own it even if the team is in non-league, then you start to ask yourself if the continuation of protests and negativity are worse than the option of making the most of what you've actually got. Some people have season tickets next year and want to watch a decent team in the next 12 months but it seems the more trouble being caused off the pitch is just adding to how poor we are becoming on it. It's almost like the O's have said, ride the storm, this is no time to invest, we'll only put more money in once it all blows over. |
| Forum Reply | Theories of what's going on? at 16:32 25 May 2015
O won't be in a rush as he doesn't likr signing players early in the summer anyway as that costs money with no immediate return. The fact that preparing early generally gives long term rewards doesn't appear to be regarded as beneficial to the club. |
| Forum Reply | Average attendance last season at 16:28 25 May 2015
We have only ever averaged between 3,500 and 6,500 in the lower leagues and that was without civil war against the club's owners. I think gates will go to the lower end of the above historical averages so probably 4,500 to 5,000. |

Toon are still £129M in debt to him - he's been recording profits in recent seasons to reduce that debt so he won't be walking away just yet. Similarly, the O's have made massive profits and racked up around £31 Million... loaned out to holding companies around BFC. Is this to protect the club in the long term or to just make money from it? The next 10 years will probably provide the answer. If it's the former, then we may be in a better position than we think. If it's the latter, then we are in a disastrous situation. What isn't acceptable to either fanbase, is making profits whilst failing to provide a competitive team. |

It depends what kind of a team we have. Last season was about the first in 30 years I never bothered going to a single away game as it just wasn't worth it. |

He had only just got to the dressing room and they announced that? Bizarre. Wonder what questions MOTD will ask him then? |

They deserve to go up. Good luck to them and hopefully we can do the same one day. I still hope to see a Blackpool v. Preston top flight fixture one day. |

Ah, but we've got a £31 Million surplus on the balance sheet. Beat that. |
| Forum Reply | Well done Sarfend - should a P/O be decided by pens at 22:59 23 May 2015
We've been on both ends of it. It did seem a terrible way to end a season when Dave Bamber missed his penalty. That was because the Play Offs were new back then and we had been the form team of the division for the second half of that season. However, you could look at it this way. They had 46 games to go up automatically and didn't. Then they had another 90 minutes today and still couldn't win, then extra time and still weren't good enough to beat the opposition. Then they were worse on pens. |

Last minute of injury time equaliser against Forest to make it 4-4 when we only really had 8 men on the pitch (2 sent off and Orlandi crippled stsnding around the centre circle) with our keeper also up for the corner. Forest fans couldn't believe they'd managed to throw away the points! |
| Forum Reply | Would Richie Kyle make a good manager? at 12:44 22 May 2015
Jeremy Kyle sorts out disfunctional families so maybe Richie can sort out a disfunctional football club! Strong similarities to Simon Grayson's appointment after he did well with the reserves. Also, all the top foreign managers weren't players... Venger, Murinhio etc so that doesn't bother me. |

Whatever the reasons behind this, it's the first - hopefully - of many, many, many positive steps that need to be put in place to get the football club up and running like a normal club again.... but whilst the first olive branch is offered, it needs to be followed up with a huge number of positive ACTIONS, not just talks. We all want the same thing at the end of the day. A successful team and club. |
