Personally, I hope he continues to score more goals whilst on loan, because his stock will rise and at the end of the season we will be able to sell him for at least what we have invested in him. I don't think he factors into our future plans - or Marti would have attempted to cut short his loan in this window.
Really strong points about the two late substitutions at Hull giving Marti no confidence to repeat the changes. Definitely feels like Wed are our bogey side - and as I said to my son after the game, hopefully this keeps Rohl above Marti in the low hanging fruit market when managerless teams come looking. As Eric says in that annoying advert - 'nice one Barry, you can get the bill....' On to south london...
He was very underestimated - such a steady and reliable player and as others have mentioned - Rangers through and through. A great servant to our club and never gave less than 110%. I was a huge fan ....
I think we need to point Jimmy towards the situation that Luke Freeman found himself in when he was transferred to Sheff Utd. It effectively ended his career - he disliked Wilder and Wilder hated him - to the extent he never played for them. Jimmy is a Ranger - we need to get him a contract and settle the situation.
Hopefully he sees this as a long(ish) term project, that will not only increase his stock holding, but will enable us to build a system around the young players that have been shining so brightly for him. he's an intelligent, effective strategist - I'm sure he won't be swayed by the idea of a quick fit pay packet. Hopefully.......
Which is my biggest concern - losing Marti would be a stake to the heart. The job he's done will not go unnoticed - but also the injection of youth and the squad rotation is nothing short of remarkable. The excitement for each game now is unreal.
Quite bizarre tonight - I thought the introduction of Lloyd and Saito changed the game - but the introduction of Madsen and Ashby had the reverse effect. We lost control at that point - personally, I'd have rather seen Colback on for the kid Morgan, rather than Ashby or Madsen to shore things up a bit. The last ten minutes were unnecessarily scary...
