So what are you saying Nick?

That the club are paving the way for Lambert's exit - and using the echo to test the water with the fans?

Could be. Good thinking that man.

I have it on good authority that Lamberts lack of mobility is a thing of the past.
Certainly a lot of hard work has gone into it, behind the scenes.
They have come up with a solution, which is quite innovative IMO.

I think that it may be that the club are preparing the fans for the possibility that SRL may not be in their long term plans.

Every player gets to the stage where he's past it sooner or later. I reckon Lambert is about at the end of being much use to us.

I wouldn't rule that out, look at the facts, Saints have just spent their club record fee on a striker, we only play one up front and the man he is going to replace is a club legend.

All these are facts so you now come to the non facts and this happens in football the world over, a few well placed words in the ear of trusted journalists and you can get your view subtly across, whether you are the club or player.

There seems to be a different change in policy regarding pr, up until recently the club would not comment on speculation or indeed very much at all, now Pochettino is being quoted all over the place about speculation and now we have this latest piece in which he sublimely says Lambert has to improve certain parts of his game, he is saying he is not mobile enough for the way that he, Pochettino wants to play, that would be fine if it were not for the fact that the replacement is already at the club with a club record fee paid.

If Lambert plays on Saturday and has another bad game, you look how many people will start to mutter about him not being mobile enough

I don't disagree. What is clear is that decisions need to be taken in the best interests of the team whatever that might be.
Currently we are not scoring any goals. The formation as you say is not suiting either striker and furthermore Lambert has barely scored from open play in the last 12 or 13 games.
Like all Saints fans we hold Ricky in the highest regard but we also know that we need to find a pattern that wins games for the club regardless of personnel or formation.

MoPo scoffed at the idea we would sell him ("he's started every game") and, when asked if he was worried that Ricky wasn't scoring every game, reminded journalists that Ricky is NOT a traditional English n°9 (even saying that he himself had been surprised to discover this). He said that Ricky is a great player and all they are working on with him was to read the spaces and move around and into them better. He is already a dynamic player and he is working to make him even more dynamic.
He made it quite clear that Ricky is very much a part of his plans.

I still don't see this. He HAS played in every game and Poch's answer was: "I want to be respectful to that kind of rumour, but what I can I say? Never."

If he was intending to sell him I would have thought he'd have gone down the 'every player knows he has to fight for his place line'.

I'd also suggest that even if Osvaldo does supplant him as our first choice up front, who would be the best stand-by at the club if he got injured? Lambert imho.

Lambert will become a valuable player for us from the bench for the next couple of seasons IF he wants to stay here and do that.
