Not a lot to go on there really. If Laudrup was first then maybe worth a read and something to absorb. But as it is there's nothing much of interest there.Sorry Fath, not having a dig.

Not even to highlight that CC is not even in the range of %s for a decent premiership manager?

Yes there is that but it's what i expected.I think he should be sacked after this campaign, not before,as we need the seeding points and a new manager might come in and going by past campaigns we could bomb and finish bottom of the group. At least with the Coleman there's a touch of continuity there.

I couldn't help but think the same thing. Looking at pure win% and using it as a gauge to determine who is the 'better' manager is fallible at best. There are so many factors involved, not the least of which teams the person in question actually managed during those times.

Take Laudrup. Aside from his stint in Brøndby where his team were considered one of the top2 teams in its league, all the teams he has managed has been about trying to beat the odds to get good results.

Looking at SAF and Mour, from what little I know of them, they spent most of their time at clubs where odds where with them in most matches, as opposed to against them.

Win% by itself is as silly a stat as they come and tells literally nothing of value about the manager in question.

Stats dont lie, but they dont tell the true story.

But how people use them can be factually determined as a lie.

Words and numbers by themselves don't lie. It's how people interpret them that can be conceived of as a lie.

And anyone trying to claim win% is a meaningfull stat to determine how good a manager is, are lying.

It's just as meaningfull a stat as the amount of times a person wears a suit in that regard.

It would be interesting to see a breakdown by number of competitive games managed, and in how many clubs/nations - that way you could get a much more meaningful picture. For example with mourinho and AVB having higher win percentages than SAF, forgetting that mourinho hasn't been managing even a third of the time SAF has, and AVB even less

ML 45%? Yet we didn't win a 1/3 of our games last season! He must have down great jobs elsewhere.

But 40% overall, like the scores mentioned above, yes? I'm sure nearly every manager's total mentioned would go down if you exclude the (relatively) easier wins in friendlies, FA cup, league cup and early round europa/CL

Can't have it both ways though, if you believe any of that s**t you must believe that Di Facisto is one of the best managers in the list. Stats eh?

His win % has always been at an astonishingly high level at every club he's been at. Be it a minnow Portuguese team no one has ever heard of or the biggest club in the world Real Madrid.

If people for one minute don't think he could 'hack it' at a club like Stoke (who have spent circa £115m since they've been in the PL, that equates to just under £20m net spend per season) then they're seriously confused. He'd lead them to consistent top 8 finishes.as an absolute minimum. The guy is a genius when it comes to football management,
