Transfer Targets 05:42 - Jun 2 with 1895 viewsexiled_dictator

Reading that Paolo Di Canio will bring an end to Phil Bardsley's Sunderland career following casino shame.

Having seen him play on MOTD, he doesn't look a bad left back, and could definitely be of use to us in the next few seasons. Still only 27, has played for Scotland as well (nothing to write home about). Would be available for relatively little money, currently of £45k a week, but he may find suitors in the Premiership which might be of more interest to him.

Has been a bit of a bad boy in the past, which might put some off him as might his wages.

45k a week? The worlds gone mad. Offer him 100,000
A year tops.

He's a right back that played a bit on the other side recently. I'd rather try and buy Adam Smith if we need a Right back, or if we need a left back an actual left back.

Their left back Rose is a better proposition.

No thanks,a plodder of a right back who is clearly earning way to much money.
These sort of players are why we are where we are,we need young foreign/lower league players who will not see us as a step down.
I'm sick of our club being used as a meal ticket for lazy c@nt big time charlies!

He has been on loan from Spurs pretty sure he'll be playing for them next season.

We can't afford to be spending more than 15-20k a week on a position like right back... and even then, Bardsley is a plodder, solid, nothing special, he's also proven himself to be a t1t off the field...

15-20?. That's £1m per year. Multiply by the number of players gives a wage bill that is unsustainable in the Championship. Top wage in the championship should not have to be more than £15k per week.

Now I know you are the exiled dictator and Jug ears and his cronies maybe your only means of watching the premier league but 2 minutes of edited action per game unless it involves the top 4 doesn't give you the full picture.
Bardsley is a rank ordinary FB at best who is a very lucky lad to be playing Football in an age when they are paid stupid money for putting in average performances. We have enough of this type on our books so don't need another.
And after the recent pictures of him at the casino come to light it appears he has the brains of a rocking horse to match.

I strongly disagree. This is an untirely unfair and malicious post which should be deleted. Rocking horses are considerably more intelligent, media savvy, professional, financially astute (and in this case mobile) than Bardsley.

Never knowingly understood

For most clubs yes, but we do have parachute payments and 15-20k compared to Bosingwa on 65k is a significant cut in costs. Repeat for all positions and you've saved a hell of a lot... yes it won't be nearly that simple in reality, but 15-20 sounds reasonable for the top championship players we should be hoping to recruit.

This is the most recent figures I can find regarding the average Championship wage. But I don't think that we are 'average' for several reasons:

We, like Reading & Wigan, will have parachute payments next season, along with previously relegated clubs

Even when in the Premiership, we were paying top dollar for players. This might change moving forward, but you will always get players agents & representatives looking for the best deal for their players

QPR brand is something that has huge commercial value & potential to TF, and he might just see spending a bit on certain players a commercially viable.

Just out of curiosity, have you seen his contract? Just amazed to know he's sharing his salary information with someone who would willingly post it on a public forum.

Sorry, whose contract?

If you mean Bardsley, then Di Canio mentioned the figure in his 24 minute rant when the Casino pictures leaked.
Neither Bardsley, his agent or Di Canio showed me his contract.

Is that the same rant where Di Canio refers to Bardsley as being 31, when he's actually 27? I can't remember Di Canio mentioning anything about Bardsley's salary though.

I've got in-laws in Sunderland and apparently they have been in a mess all season only slightly better than us - which i guess is reflected in their brush with relegation.

O'Neill was only turning up 2 days a week due to personal issues (his wife is ill again) and the squad were just swanning around for the rest of it, turning up late or not at all, missing club commitments etc.

Bardsley has previously been a solid (if unspectacular) player for them, but this season with a page 3 missus, drinking and flashing the cash he looks to be exactly the type of player we need to steer well clear of!

I'm rooting for Di Canio in his stance against player power, but i'm pretty sure that they'll stop player and get him sacked when it gets tiring or he will explode and he fired for punching/throttling a lazy player!
