b) why is it called the lancashire Senior Cup when teams play their juniors (BBM excepted)? 42 years ago we won this trophy - great final against Oldham at Spotland - two first teams and a large crowd.

Is it not the case that all our senior players will have gone on hols by now except BBM who is now management? This competition needs to be played during the Football League season not the Premiership season, otherwise clubs in the FL will always struggle to field teams at this time of the year. | | | |

To be fair I was more questioning the name of the trophy/competition as failing to reflect the modern reality that nobody is interested in playing their first team any more.
Incidentally the 1971 final was played after the last league games had been played. Players are not contracted for only the football league season. | | | |
