Cortese is somebody who thinks he is right all the time which is an impossible thing to happen.
With no background of football he thinks Saints are going to be a real force in the PL
That is never going to happen and if say Fulham or West Ham had a chairman who said that their teams were going to be in the champions league most would think them deluded

So far Cortese has done what he said and what we all wanted Many though sacking Pardew and replacing him with Adkins, who was virtually unknown was a mistake. That worked Lets what and see what happens before we say its wrong eh !
Very little I'd have thought Doesn't mean we shouldn't try to be as good as we can I have no idea if the new manager will improve the team or not but I'm willing to give him the chance and not complain about the actions of a man whose decisions so far seem to have worked out quite well for Saints
People can dress it up all they like to justify what has happened but the reality is that a decent, young, improving English manager has been replaced by a recently sacked non English speaking Argentinian with a modest record of achievement at a tiny Spanish club.
Before any of these idiots say it again, no he is not the next Jose mourinho, survival this season will be an achievement for this bloke.

I blame Nick - barely 24 hours after Nick writes his review of the Chelski comeback praising Nigel, then, wham bam thank you mam, he's out of the door.
If only Nick had slagged off Nige for not starting with SRL and Gaston, none of this would have happened.
PS Conspiracy Rumour # 59.
NC reaaranged the Chelski away game in the hope that we would get thrashed like Villa did and would have come out of this mess smelling off roses.

Yes he does. There is no justification for the way he treats people and I am not just talking about NA as disgusting as that was. Success wont justify it and it wont buy us our respect back in the game either. You might be happy with success at ANY cost but then you cant have values or standards which is not my concern
I honestly can't see the difference in Cortese deciding the new man can do a better job than Adkins and Adkins deciding Jack Cork could do a better job than Dean Hammond. We have all said that we needed new CB s and a keeper. Kelvin and Fonte along with Hammond helped us get were we are now but no one was getting hysterical about them being replaced
I dont think anybody disagrees about replacing players
But with managers it is slightly different
Cortese employed Adkins on a contract to get SFC to the PL and beyond
He got us there and after a poor start against the top teams Adkins has got us to 15th
Which is a pretty good position considering that £30m was not invested wisely.
Clubs which succeed usually have stability and do not sack managers willy nilly with Chairman and manager working well together something I doubt Cortese can do
The new Argie may well succeed but so might have Adkins only time will tell most of my friends who are not Saints supporters do not think much of the sacking

... and who showed the same indignation when Martinez left Swansea for Wigan, or Rogers left Swansea for Liverpool. As soon as a big club vacancy came up, the press would not have hesitated to put Adkins in the picture. They effectively ended Harry's tenure at Spurs over the England cock-up. Come on. It's football FFS. Why should clubs be any more loyal to managers than they are to the clubs? We are not going to buy our way to the top like Chelsea or City. We are going to work our way there and Pochettino seems a good choice for that.
Please forget you knew my name, my darling Sugaree

An interesting sub-plot for Southampton fans is the potential summer arrival of talented Espanyol midfielder Joan Verdu, a creative playmaker widely regarded as the Catalan club's best player. Verdu, 29, is out of contract at the end of the season and has not agreed a new deal, with the club struggling to find funds to pay him as they seek to reduce their debts. A host of clubs across Europe are known to be keen on securing his services for nothing in June. Considering his history with Pochettino, it's fairly safe to add Southampton to that list of suitors.

You might want to look at Chelsea and Arsenal over the last few years and reconsider your comments on stability and success I'm not saying what went on was the best way it could have been but nearly Adkins did to Hammond what has been done to him It's football. If you can improve on what you have you do
Exactly. I don't remember anyone holding up placards saying "There's only one Dean Hammond". The principle is exactly the same. You replace to progress, it's what ambition in professional football is all about. Only the very best get to the top of the pyramid.
As for people doubting Cortese's ability to deliver, have they already forgotten the five year plan to change us from a f*cked up club at the wrong end of Div 1 to a Premier League club?
Can't see a Chairman with no experience in football ever achieving that, can you?
