Nah, but what i do think happened was Cortese offered the job to the Argie before the Chelsea game, thinking after the cup game we'd get tonked again and the fans would accept it as some would be questioning Adkins like they did after every loss. Except it didn't work out like that.
The timing of the whole thing is barmy. 3 days before an important home match when we have a weekend off next weekend. If he was going to do it why not get the Everton game out of the way and then give the new guy a week to get to know the players? | |

I have not advocated the sacking at all and agree the timing was awful, but when is a good time to sack someone? I honestly think it's been on the cards for a while (must have been to have a replacment sat in the wings) and the results did not go as the italian had hoped which would have made it easier.
No matter what, we have to get behind the team AND manager (St Michael won't obviously) and go for it. Players are not daft and will be playing for a place (it they are professional) and we may even see an improvement?
Or of course it could all go totally tits up ....................

From what I've heard from a few different sources, we approached one particular manager at the start of the season and again a few days before Xmas. It sounds as if from Pinnochio himself that he's been lined up for a while, I guess we got so far down the line with bringing someone else in that the latest resurgence in results counted for nothing.
I'm not convinced Adkins was the long term option for us; but he damn well deserved at least until the end of the season. The "right" time to bin him off was after 5 or 6 games of the season. The timing of this makes no sense, nor does the new man appointed either. A heavy defeat against Everton and it becomes a barmy decision; a win or a draw and I guess we move on (albeit feeling a bit of shame). | | | |
