Coventry in Shite on 16:45 - Dec 6 with 1246 views | Mattnme | Sooner or later a football league club will go out of business. I thought it might have been pompey could be coventry might be QPR but it will happen and probably to one with prem history. When it does happen it will be a domino effect but as long as it's not a precious prem club no-one except the fans of that club will care. | | | ![](/images/icons/ignore-user.png) |
Coventry in Shite on 17:32 - Dec 6 with 1226 views | nadera78 | Just to add that this is what Fernandes has planned for QPR; sell Loftus Rd to developers and move us - as tenants - into a multi-purpose venue owned by Tune Group. | | | ![](/images/icons/ignore-user.png) |
Coventry in Shite on 19:37 - Dec 6 with 1185 views | QPR_Jim | Except you obviously wouldn't run your own business into admin and relegation for the sake of a bit of rent, so its not quite the same. If tune group were to set a rent that meant we only needed 5k attendance to break even we would have no danger of ending up like coventry. It's the rate of rent compared to their gates that are the issue not necessarily the fact they don't own the ground. | | | ![](/images/icons/ignore-user.png) |
Coventry in Shite on 20:13 - Dec 6 with 1159 views | N12Hoop | I just can't understand how it benefits the owners of the Ricoh if Cov go under, it's not like its either a site that can be filled with better tenants or a site to be knocked down and built on by Tescos. Sounds the usual rhetoric about D-day which never comes. | |

Coventry in Shite on 04:44 - Dec 7 with 1065 views | Beaufort27 | One wonders how much money the Ricoh pulls in when you take Coventry out of the picture. I'd guess not much, but perhaps it's enough as otherwise City would have used that fact as a bargaining chip to reduce their rent. | | | ![](/images/icons/ignore-user.png) |
Coventry in Shite on 08:39 - Dec 7 with 1045 views | nadera78 | Been said numerous times, particularly by Beard and occasionally Fernandes. A new venue to host all sorts of concerts, etc and with QPR as the "anchor tennant". Seperating club from stadium is fine in the USA where leagues are franchised, or in Europe where local authorities supply facilities to clubs at subsidised rates. But in this country we've seen what happens when the two are split and the club falls down the leagues. | | | ![](/images/icons/ignore-user.png) |

Coventry in Shite on 10:41 - Dec 7 with 1005 views | nadera78 | Funnily enough when we moved to the White City Stadium the club kept hold of Loftus Rd, which was used for offices, training, etc, and that obviously enabled us to move back. No chance of it happening now though. You could put 200 flats on that plot of land. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Coventry in Shite on 11:00 - Dec 7 with 993 views | Jamie | Which bits has he filled in? Beard has said several times any new stadium would need to be multi purpose and even suggested a few months ago a ground share. You don't need to be a Titan of industry to work out that the huge investment of a new ground would need to work 7 days a week to recoup the expense. That means restaurants, bars, cinema, hotel, casino etc. http://m.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/120606/qpr-chief-ra | | | ![](/images/icons/ignore-user.png) |
Coventry in Shite on 11:12 - Dec 7 with 984 views | TGRRRSSS | He's said it needs to be multipurpose but thats no bad thing and can be a way to make more money both for the club and owners of the club. Not the same as us being a tennant per sey. | | | ![](/images/icons/ignore-user.png) |
Coventry in Shite on 11:35 - Dec 7 with 899 views | nadera78 | www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/feb/07/qpr-philip-beard-relegation-ambitions "And then if we really have long-term goals and aspirations — and I think they are achievable — we need to find the right location to look at developing a new ground for QPR, somewhere the club is the anchor tenant at that stadium and where we will be able to do other activities in terms of sport and entertainment." www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/jan/14/mark-hughes-qpr-newcastle? "It won't be simply a football stadium. Our intention is to build a multi-use stadium where the main tenants are QPR." | | | ![](/images/icons/ignore-user.png) |

Coventry in Shite on 12:03 - Dec 7 with 884 views | Jamie | QPR is now a business product of the Tune Group. Entertainment (in theory) in the form of QPR can now be attained via the Tune Group as can hotel rooms, mobile telephones, air travel, motor racing, home/car insurance. A new stadium belonging to QPR makes no sense. Having QPR play at a Tune venue alongside Tune restaurants, a Tune hotel, a Tune casino etc makes sound business sense. Trips from Asia to London aboard Air Asia, staying in a Tune hotel, with tours of London and tickets to QPR matches must surely be the ultimate aim. | | | ![](/images/icons/ignore-user.png) |
Coventry in Shite on 12:12 - Dec 7 with 876 views | QPR_Jim | As I said before whether we own it or not is not necessarily important, it all depends on the rate of rent we are paying and how long it's secured for. If it's negligible then we would be fine if we need 20k a game like Coventry then we may end up in the same scenario. If your also renting the space out to other businesses then there would be no need to charge the club excessive rent. As stated before Coventry's ground is owned by someone separate from the club, why would Tony wind-up QPR over a bit of rent when the money he would earn from the rent to Tune group would be offset by the reduced value of QPR when we are in admin or relegated? Essentially you can't say "if we don't own our ground we will end up like Coventry" as it's two separate issues and depends on the cost of the rent etc. | | | ![](/images/icons/ignore-user.png) |

Coventry in Shite on 13:09 - Dec 7 with 838 views | Jamie | TF is a god. Admittedly he fcked up with Hughes, and fcked up with his player acquisition strategy, but apart from that everything else he has done (like the ST refund that had to be given back to the club) has been immense. | | | ![](/images/icons/ignore-user.png) |
