Hello all off on holiday and need to take a book or 2? Last year Grounds for Divorce helped me while away the hours sitting by the pool. I seem to remember a sticky not so long ago plugging a QPR related book?? If not I like to read sporting related books / autobiograhies etc and quite like books along the theme of Martina Cole. Any suggestions would be appreciated (and NO, 50 shades of f&cking grey or whatever it's called need not be mentioned!!!) . Thanks

The QPR books is a Game of Two Halves by Fred Hartman, available here

Recently read Moneyball, The Blind Side and Friday Night Lights which I'd recommend.

And Miracle of Castel Di Sangro is still outstanding.

If you enjoy Martina Cole then you may like Lee Childs.

He has written loads of books about "Jack Reacher" - Perfect holiday fare.

I've also been allowed to read The Hunger Games on my wifes Kindle and enjoyed that as well.

You may have gathered, i don't read anything that's too taxing on the brain

I've found a team sheet for the weekend - anyone interested ?

Not specifically what you asked for, but currently I'm reading Dangerous Nation by Robert Kagan and its one of the best things I've read in years. Its basically a deconstruction of the American myth that they're a peace loving people who only start wars for good reasons. Kagan is complete Reaganite as well so its not a Michael Moor-esque swipe at the American war machine but a step by step attack by a true America lover on the fantasy of American exceptionalism,

The Big Short by Michael Lewis which I really enjoyed.

Didn't read it as such, I actually had it read to me. First time I've tried an audiobook and I would highly recommend. Lazy I know but very relaxing.

Anything by Wilbur Smith, I especially recommend River god and The Seventh Scroll if a mix of ancient Egypt & modern day float your boat, brilliant imo. For all out action adventure he's hard to beat.

In a similar vein Christian Jacq's Ramses seires was also excellent & although he's a total twunt Jeffery Archer is a master story teller & have thoroughly evjoyed everything I've read

Actually written for kids but the Hunger games trilogy is a real page turner too
