Luke Shaw on 11:59 - May 2 with 606 views | SonicBoom | He will get a chance here before most other premier clubs. He could go to Arsenal and not play for 4 years, or go to City and never play. Might as well stay here then....

Luke Shaw on 12:09 - May 2 with 565 views | Saintpaul120 | I've seen him play in the U18's FA trophy, a leg of which was played at SMS. He is very good on the ball and gets forward quite a lot, overlapping. He strikes a ball well, looks very composed & comfortable on the ball and did have a couple of shots on target. If I was to compare him with someone else it would have to be Cole or Bridge like style. Brooking and Pearce were up there, along with quite a few other scouts and sports writers that night and I really do think he will be good if he stays. It's quite possible he'll do an AOC. He's quite quiet though and just goes about his playing. They're at Chelsea today. Hunter rates him.
Luke Shaw on 12:11 - May 2 with 567 views | weneedbigballz | I am not ITK on this one, but know a lot about him. Basically he is from Walton on Thames, and is very good mates with some of the students I teach in Weybridge (for example a young Mr Shaw played at our school for the rival school a couple of years back and was absolute quality - scoring a barrel load of headers, even though he was about 5'4"). Apparently he does love it in the Saints Academy (been there since he was about 8) - and the media stuff is overblown, he's had no contact from anyone at any point about a move. This is all second hand from 16/17 year old students though...

Luke was scouted by Saints at the age of 8 and he has been with the club ever since. Shaw can score goals and poses a threat from set pieces

Luke Shaw on 18:18 - May 2 with 355 views | Ronnie | As Nicola is apparently quoted as saying that the plan is to progress as many of the academy players as possible through into the first team, it would make no sense to even consider letting any of our young players go - particularly those rated highly like Shaw. The issue might be whether Nicola's plan would be scuppered by young players being drawn to the limelight and money of the big clubs as as happened so often previously - with players like Lallana the shining exception to the rule (not forgetting Le Tis of course!)
Luke Shaw on 18:57 - May 2 with 321 views | dirk_doone | Before it was called the Academy, we had quite a few good youth players, who left us well before they matured into great players. Les Ferdinand is one who springs to mind. At least we got quite a few games from Shearer and the Wallace brothers before we sold them. Wasn't Gascoigne at our North-Eastern youth training centre at one time too? McMenemy was quite innovative in setting up Southampton youth training centres in the North-East and London. Whatever happened to them?
