Gerry Francis in 1993 ditched our first all black kit after one disastrous outing wearing it, a 4-1 gubbing at Villa Park first game of the season, thinking it was unlucky and it never saw the light of day again. We replaced it with the all red kit we won at St James's Park in later that season.
If I was Marti, I'd insist that when the hoops can't be worn, the black kit is worn. [Post edited 22 Feb 19:36]

Not sure if you have seen it live, Brian but I saw it pre season on some of our fans and maybe the team wore it as well.
I think it looks worse live than on a stream. If it was a better shade of yellow or gold it would be preferable. I agree on the hoops, yellow and white?

(I know we'd need variation of colours if we stayed with hoops, just so we could sell kits).

We played at the SW6 cesspit on 25th August 1993 in our second away game of that season and lost 2-0. It must have been after this game that Gerry binned it off thinking it was unlucky after losing twice conceding six goals.

Much as I've liked the variations on the Feyenoord kit over the years, and a few others besides...I'm with Brian...hoops is our identity, our USP...so all 2nd and 3rd kits should be hooped...appreciate it doesn't make financial sense to be Dennis every year, so I'm not really fussed what colour combos are hooped together....just keep it da da da da HOOPS. | |
