After 8 years of American ownership you actually believe that we will have someone lined up … ?

I'm not sure why there's such a clamouring for his departure, history shows that the summer transfer let alone the winter window have never been great examples of Club planning, if its true he put the request in last Thursday I can't believe the owners had a contingency plan in place to replace him.

I think we’d all be happy if we bring someone better, more dynamic in to replace him.

People just seem to think it’s a given. I’m really not confident we will. I’m expecting last minute panic signings. They would not have been prepared for Grimes going.

On the plus side, there’s a fee here, there’s money for Whittaker, there’s wages saved.

Takes the heat right off Williams. All of a sudden no one is mentioning him getting sacked.

I really think the replacement is Fulton.

This is the concern many people are ignoring in their delight that Grimes is going. Happy days if they bring a better player in, but he’s the last man they’d have expected to be replacing.

It could work out really well, but Coleman has form for this.

I think we’ll try to squeeze more minutes out of Allen.

This really is worrying, although he hasn't been at his best he has been ever present. Money from his transfer will not be spent on quality, it will be bargain buys if we do buy a replacement, and I would not be surprised if we didn't. Hope we have players lined up to cone in? Don't make me laugh, how many transfer windows have we heard that? It just seems we are getting ready for league one. Hope I'm proven wrong.

With a few days left in the transfer window we are staring at the trap door and about to lose our captain who has played in every game since some of us can remember and some are very happy about it. It’s utter madness, the club is going down the tubes.

We need to be brave
We need to plan
We can do this

Do what though? replace him with Fulton of an injury prone Allen?

Grimes on 09:29 - Jan 28 with 2815 viewsonehunglow

Rog
Joe is done, should never have been given another deal along with Naughton. Dumb decisions
By being brave ,I mean we should use this opportunity to reset and end this sideways madness . Our biggest issue though is Williams who will take us down if he stays .
We are better off without him on the premises . He is horrific and if Grimes had enough then he must be truly horrific .
There are hundreds of players available ,many looking for work.
I hinestky believe that you personally could set our team up better

If he put a transfer request in last Thursday why the hell was he captain on Saturday.
Explains a lot about his and the teams performance.

With Williams there we are in real trouble. A proper manager wouldn't have Grimes sitting between centre halves , leaving the other 2 midfielders exposed to the extent that he pushes fullbacks inside to compensate. Fullbacks that give the ball away in dangerous positions from where the opposition invariably score.

That’s a very good point. Insanity to play him

Yet VIP travelled just after his baby born ,and with no intention of playing him.
Nice Williams is not

I maybe in a minority but letting the captain go to a team equally as poor is a pretty crap show at all levels. We will be a weaker squad without him. Anyone who believes that there is a better replacement lined up is deluded. Don’t get me started on Fulton or Allen filling that role …

You have a point but the truth of the matter is that whilst the same coach and straining set up is in place, Grines is never going to perform for us, I wouldn’t mind betting he’ll be too class at Coventry because Lampard will ask different things if him.

For that reason we may as well cash in though to not replace him at all would be suicidal.

It’s how he plays and not about his abilities
If unhappy,he should stood up to the Jerk, especially his treatment of Vip and Darling vis a vis Soton
Can’t wait to see the back og him
We will be utterly different and better as Zgrimes kills us

IMO with Lampard as Manager we'll see ( for anyone that cares ) a different type of player. Maybe our loss who knows but the future starts when Grimes leaves ,good or bad hope the same when Williams goes.

I have no issue cashing in but don’t see why it can’t wait until the end of the season. It all feels just opportunistic for all parties. Where’s the planning ? What is our strategy apart from sell, sell, sell. I have zero faith that he will be replaced adequately during this window, we have been here too often in the last few years. We all know that only a fraction of the £3m will be spent on bringing someone else in if anyone at all. Utter shambles.

Yep time for a change, hopefully we can pull this deal off for Melker and team him up with Franco, and play on the front foot with a bit of tempo

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game
Poll: Happy to see Martin go

Completely agree

Even if he tears it up for Coventry it’s not our loss as he has t done it here since the Potter season (which is possibly the only season which we didn’t play through him every chance)

Del piero stay with Juve when they went down as he was an inspirational captain and wanted to help them improve
Grimes is the opposite, a terrible leader ,not someone you’d want in the trenches with you . His stats won’t get us back up the table. He needs a manager who demands more of him and our last couple of managers haven’t

This is Patches O'Houlihan saying "Take care of your balls, and they'll take care of you."

Maybe he can be the millstone that drags them beneath us
0

Grimes on 09:28 - Jan 29 with 1279 viewsjack247

This is exactly it. Nobody is going to have an issue with selling Grimes if we replace him with a better player.

We’ve been here too many times before though and if the story ends the way it usually does, we’ve got Allen replacing him until he tires, then Fulton coming on. May be a minor point, but that effectively means we have one less substitution every game.

It’s happening and to be fair, £4m seems a good price. Huge pressure on Coleman to step up now though. Then he’s got the small matter of Luke Williams to deal with.

100% he's been treading water to long and earned a good living from us he's a player not a team. Thanks Matt but on we go again
